China doesn't have a billion people working in manufacturing for export, but as the cycle continues they will face the same pressure for rising wages that every other country that modernizes does. US industry got thumped by Japan. Japan got thumped by S Korea. S Korea is getting thumped by Southeast Asia, etc etc. The rest of SE Asia can take up China's slack - I'm sure India wouldn't mind either.

    Mango;

    I don't have time to go through all of your articles but I will agree that there is a gray area involving the PRC and nuclear proliferation.

    While the PRC in the past has engaged in proliferation activity there is evidence that they are concerned themselves about proliferation.

    from your article:

    Regarding AQ Khan the PRC has along history of working with the Pakistanis to counter the threat they see from India. From what I've heard about AQ Khan was that he was acting as a rogue proliferator even behind Musharraf's back. While AQ Khan may have given Chinese technology to Iran and others it seems jumping too fast to conclusions to presume that the PRC knew about this or condoned it.

    You think that they (PRC) are on the good side of the gray area of the proliferation issue and I think they have strayed some into the bad side.

    You are not able to prove with 100% cerrtainty that they are squeaky clean and I have been unable to change your viewpoint.

    I think we are done here.

    I agree we can't prove anything 100% either way but still an interesting discussion and some very informative articles..

    I think the PRC are getting concerned about nuclear proliferation and are getting their act together about it but I would probably agree with you that they still should be kept an eye on.
