Why don't you watch the video of that girl bleeding to death again and maybe you'll realize this isn't the place for your usual bull**** right now.

This situation is just so ugly...my friends and family from Iran have been posting videos on facebook and I cant imagine what they are going through. I really hope they get the freedom they deserve.

...That video of the young girl getting shot and dying is tragic.

It isn't like America hasn't used deadly force against his own people.

What do the people want to accomplish?

What if ahmadinejad did actually win? Will people just protest because they didn't win.

Will the protest only stop if Mousavi wins, or do they want to overthrow the entire government?

i've watched it several times. i'm not sure what you're referring to, but the Iranian people need to know that we're not caught up in our usual bull****, nor are they forgotten by the civilized world, and to know that that world supports them, and is not merely "concerned," or, too busy to pay attention while they're out getting ice cream sundays...

I do not care if Ahmadinejad won. I believe he probably did. But in the modern era, you do not crack down on silent protests. Silent protests over the lack of transparency from their government. As of now, no recount will matter because of how the election was conducted.

Imagine the general reaction if Bush had won in 2004 by 65% but the votes were counted by the GOP. It's a powerful conflict of interest.

Attributed to the father of Neda, the girl in the video. He is holding her.

"Khameneie! You called yourself, the father of all orphans of Iran-Iraq war,but here you made a father witness the martyrdom of his daughter,in minutes,in his arms. You took away a mans, but Iran's daughter. He didnt believe it at first, saying:Neda, dont be afraid, dont be afraid..then when blood covered her face,he came to and cried:Neda,stay..Neda,stay... Read More!....The doctor who was there was helpless as the shot was in the chest. My dear Neda, you are now loved by all more than ever,my tears are nonstop for you,but you died for Iran to be free and Im proud of you,may you rest in peace in heaven. And you Khameneie, you will certainly pay for this and definitely go to hell!"

I might be able to deal with trauma, but this is like losing a sister.

You know exactly what he's referring to, and you are a coward not to own up to it. Be man enough to admit it, at least.

Not with a master strategy to quell protests. In fact the only thing I can think of was the Kent State shootings which lasted 13 seconds and was stopped ASAP. We have the right to protest in USA

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble

tell the .gov that they are pissed, and things are going to change.
Yes if they feel it was not open and free election. Even if the reported problems did not change the results in changed the confidence in the results.
They are standing up for their rights. If the current .gov listens and makes changes I am sure a peaceful solution could be found.

Before these protests, the only concern you had for Iran was when the hell we were going to bomb them even if it meant killing people like the ones protesting right now. Your sudden concern doesn't strike anyone as genuine. If you really cared, your thoughts about what was going on over there wouldn't always include your usual Obama criticisms.

You can't even see a girl dying without thinking "hmm, how can I use this against Obama."

saying that he hopes the president realizes what is going on and act accordingly is BS?

Yes, if you are accusing the President of not paying attention at all which is basically what he's doing. If you disagree with not officially accusing the Iranian govt of rigging the election, then explain how it would help the situation over there to make it about America instead of about the Iranian people vs the Iranian Govt.

The rigged election maybe, but there are some of us who saw Iran changing years ago. Then some moron thought we should call them out with the Axis of Evil nonsense and the progressive movement over there was derailed overnight as people didn't appreciate their country being called evil.

Words do matter. There are thousands of people out there in the streets now, but the country is made up of millions. If we get involved we could sway a lot of undecided or passive people against the protesters.

I'm sorry...a leader SHOULD choose words carefully for consideration of the "big picture", but seeing the government allow their own innocent civilians to be butchered makes me realize, yes this Iranian government IS evil...

Perhaps if the people would decide to grab guns by the millions, the government would not be so quick to butcherize them for simply protesting.

    Way to go Iran...

Hai, Hai hiptador!...or however it's spelled ...(Death to the Dictator!)

The First amendment is given power by the second amendment. Those who say the .gov is to powerful and thus negates such power, turn on the tv.

Wow - this will be a tipping point for them, these people are tired of the Mullahs and their idiocy...

I wish there was something the world could do.....for them......Too bad there is no way to just tell the Iranian army that if they overthrow they government the rest of the world will help them set up a free society.
