I love the fact that he was allowed to speak and say his crazy ideas. Shame on those who would prevent him from making a fool out of himself. But thank goodness he wasn't allowed to visit ground zero - what a mess that would have been. The city was a mess enough today. But the whole town would have felt the effects of this scum-bag going down and paying "tribute" to the terrorists who died there. And yes, this man would be going down there to pay tribute to terrorists - because he's happy 9/11 happened but he will publically say Bush was behind it or the Mossad. Just like he denies the Holocaust existed and that Israel should dissappear. Let the fool speak, but not piss on people's graves. If he wants freedom to move about our country, he can start by stop preaching hate for everything we are and stand for.
He sure said some crazy things today. My wife goes to Columbia and believed she attended the lecture. He was asked why homosexuals are hung in his country. His response was that there aren't any homosexuals in his country unlike the US. Said there should be more research on the Holocaust. Said its not a crime to be "women". That they are wonderful people. He is confused as to why his peaceful country is not allowed to pursue nuclear energy. Said people shouldn't be bullied into doing things. He is a wise man.
Maybe everyone who hates gay people in America can move to Iran since they don't have 'em over there. Nothing to ever worry about again...
Why? I support free speech so long as it doesn't infringe on anyone's rights. But that doesn't mean I support him going to ground zero for his nefarious purposes.
Who's rights in he infringing on by going to ground zero? If you're concern is he'll offend people, he could just as easily offend people with his "free speech". The basic principle behind free speech, or freedom of expression more generally, is you don't restrict someone's actions just because it offends you.
I thought the President of Columbia's introduction was awkward and not something that should be said when the head of state is sitting in the same room. Since he shared those sentiments, I wonder whose decision it was to even have the Ahmadinejad speak in the first place.
Heard on NPR that he said Iran doesnt have gays like in America. Hahaha, what an Idiot. Gay is a biological thing of mankind. Either Iran executed all the gay people, which is a slap to his face, or he doesnt know what he was talking about. Also the existence of holucast is debatable because there is no research on the subject and Plastinians are paying for the cost. He beats Bush in the dumb category.
It was harsh, but true. I think it's more of a vent from America's perspective. At the end of the NPR special, it interviewed an Iran student in Columbia. He said something that it's Iranian's duty to change Iran, not America's and many things about Iran are misconcieved here and only will help Ahmadinejad as a figure standing against super power back in Iran.
Actually it's not a scientific fact that being "gay is a biological thing of mankind".... ...it’s still being debated....many believe its a choice.
I think it is a combination of the genetics and environment just like any other human traits. I don't believe in free will, so there is no choice.
It is debated like evolution vs. creationism is debated, which I guess depending on how you view that argument, is probably a very self-validating position for both points of view. There is sufficient evidence that if one doesn't enter with a predisposition, a significant biological factor is undeniable. But then the flat earthers still claim that there is enough evidence to deny that the earth is proven to be round. But every modern study that I know of indicates some genetic basis moderated by environment, most likely the environment of fetal development. If you can come up with any legitimate recent research which rules out a genetic component, I would be very interested to see it.
Then you should fly to Iraq, walk across the border, and ask the authorities for a guided tour. You can find out the local situation, firsthand, and tell us if Iran is truly free of gay people, as the President of Iran said at Columbia. I think I can speak for most here when I say that we would look forward to your report of great anticipation. Be sure to say, "Excuse me, but I would like to see some Iranian gay people. Is it true they don't exist? Thanks in advance." The result might be interesting and enlightening. D&D. Impeach Mr. Bankrupting America.
There is a correlation between homosexuality and genetics, but there is no established cause…thus the grey area exists. My point was just to show YallMean that it’s not so clear cut as he’s making it out to be… In my opinion you are probably right that it is linked to genetics… so no argument here.
Honestly, pretty bold of him to take live questions from a group of students ~ when is the last time Bush has done something like that?
It would have been even more bold if he answered the questions straight. And I think Bush would end up looking just as foolish if he had to answer questions from Iranian students.
Honestly, I don't believe Iran is any threat to the US. It is just Western media that has played up this story over and over again. Other unfriendly nations like Pakistan and N. Korea have nuclear capabilities and aren't nearly as vilified. Ahmadinejad is a very smart man. He would not risk the lives of his countrymen over an attack on Israel or similar. I believe he just is a master of psychological warfare and he is playing the West like a fiddle. If you see his responses and his demeanor he appears to be enjoying every second that Westerners get riled up over a comment he has made.
Right?! While I no means condone the man, can you imagine Jr sitting there and take a verbal lashing like the president of Columbia gave him or standing up to a hostile audience like that?
