Ohhhhhhhhh, so this is why we rescued those iranian fishermen. I was wondering why we were playing "nice guy", collateral anyone?
Nah, I don't think that had anything to do with the rescue, although it doesn't hurt (doubt if it helps, either). It's the mission. The US and several other countries with naval assets in the area are running anti-pirate patrols. Countries as diverse as France and Oman, India and China, have warships patrolling there frequently.
What about scientists that know too much science? Iran car explosion 'kills nuclear scientist' in Tehran A university lecturer and nuclear scientist has been killed in a car explosion in north Tehran, reports say. Iranian media sources named the casualty as Mostafa Ahmadi-Roshan, Reuters news agency reports. The blast happened when a motorcyclist stuck a bomb on the side of the car, says Iran's semi-official Fars news agency. Several Iranian nuclear scientists have been assassinated in Iran in recent years. Tehran has blamed the killings on Israel and the US. Both countries deny the accusations. Local sources said Wednesday's blast took place at a faculty of Iran's Allameh Tabatai university. Two others were reportedly also injured in the blast, which took place near Gol Nabi Street, in the north of the capital. Mr Ahmadi-Roshan, 32, was a graduate of oil industry university and supervised a department at Natanz uranium enrichment facility in Isfahan province, Fars reported. The latest attack comes almost two years to the day since Massoud Ali Mohammadi, a 50-year-old university lecturer at Tehran University, was killed by a remote-controlled bomb as he left his home in Tehran on 12 January 2010. Fars reports that the bombing method appears similar to another 2010 attack which injured former university professor Fereydun Abbasi-Davani, now the head of the country's atomic energy organisation. There has been much controversy over Iran's nuclear activities. Tehran says its nuclear programme is for peaceful energy purposes, but the US and other Western nations suspect it of seeking to build nuclear weapons. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-16492156
Like the people in Guantanamo Bay are getting. I'm not saying I condone this (I do not), but the US is not the country to lecture other countries on this subject.
It wouldn't surprise me if he was a spy or not a spy. I would be surprised if he is other than a low level general background spy. The guy will never be executed. I predict that in the next year when it is useful he will be pardoned to show what great guys Ahmadinijad or the Iranian upper leadership are.. Just part of a game along with much of the posturing-- done for domestic political purposes-- by both sides. Obama wants to show he loves Israel as much as Romney; Ahmadinijad wants to show he doesn't cower before the US and Israel.
Great point. Then again, maybe Iran killed him because he was going to spill some beans. We we'll never know, because it's not realistic to expect any sense of normalcy from a country that is surrounded by people who want to attack/invade it and is being governed by people who invaded it. Really the only thing we can determine from this article is that BBC will do everything it can for this not to be classified as terrorism.
It's too bad we live in a republic where we have no say in the political process. We should just annex mexico to solve all our problems.
More fun for justtxyank: Regarding the hypocrisy of certain buffoonish elements in this forum with respect to US foreign policy and prisoners, perhaps we should take a trip down memory lane:
LOL - all different contextual discussions. You so funny Rhad.... Rhad's mentality.....seething....how can I get DD's goat....how can I....search search....search...aha, there is one quote I can use,......search search search...there is another..... GOTCHA..... LOL - yeah wtf evah ! DD
From one thread, revolving around gitmo abuses. Of course, you are right: their are plenty of other contextual discussions where you're a blindingly obtuse idiot; a good portion of them are related in some way or another to this topic.
BTW - as a way out pointing out your obsession with me, none of those quotes are at odds with each other, they are all consistent, even taken out of context from their original discussion. DD
I know, and it kills you, doesn't it.....sorry that you don't like it, but hey, the world needs guys in ivory towers whining about the treatment of others and doing nothing about it themselves. Good on ya mate ! DD
Hey Rhad, glad you are out there on the front lines of the internet fighting the good fight about getting those prisoners at Gitmo freed. I am sure they appreciate it, doing all that you are doing and all.....such a big help.....keep up the goo....ahh...hell, just keep spreading your lips and yapping, it is doing nothing. DD
