just curious...what are you looking for smartphones to have medical wise? are they planning on to include it in future phones?
Not interested, and largely because of the poor storage capacity. 8 GB as the upper end? Which likely means <7.5 GB you can actually use? Screw that. I'm really steamed that there's no non-cellular version (the near-mythical next generation ipod). But I know they have to do what they can to pump the opening numbers for the phone. There better be a widescreen ipod come Nov. Evan
Apple just posted a new iPhone tour: http://www.apple.com/iphone/usingiphone/guidedtour.html?cid=CDM-US-iPhone-5405A&sr=em&cp=ip-bob
Yeah, just the interface and the integration of everything in the phone is 'revolutionary' enough for me to be interested. Quite impressive.
just watched video. as someone else posted, i dont know if i like all the touch screen action. i need some buttons. especially for dialing/texting, i mean i could maybe get used to dialing on touch screen, but text i would def like the buttons. other than that the thing looks pretty solid.
I want someone to watch that video and then dismiss the iPhone as "eye candy". Yeah right. It indeed pushes the envelope and will push competitors to improve their offerings. I was becoming weary of the hype and was just wanting the thing to be released so people could get their hands on it and critique it. Then this video is released by Apple and I'm back to salivating. They have a good marketing staff. I wonder how many more advertising nuggets will be coming out in the next 7 days (though this video was more like a full course meal).
ive had medical students/nurses call in to install like a Drug Medical handbook (hell we don't support it ) the treos are popular with Realtors that use the IR of it to open key locks for the houses they sell, its pretty nifty software.
I just bought a Razr VT3 with the mp3 player and everthing in December so I won't be getting another phone for at least 2 more years. Plus I don't need all this fancy gadget stuff cause I'm never going to really use. Am I the only one here who likes the clunking sound of a old school keyboard? Sleak and sexy is not always very useful and funtional so I'll hold my judgement until I can get my hands on the iPhone. I already have an iPod and that cost me a fortune. Damn Apple and their expensive products. People complain about a $600 game console yet they hype a $500 phone and find reasons to justify the purchase. I my opinion both of these products are overpriced however the PS3 provides more use and functionality as a stand alone BlueRay player for the price let alone being a next gen gaming system. One last thing a quick question to all of technology whores out there: The phone industry keeps making huge advances every year with all sorts of sophisticated new technology crammed up in a phone like cameras, mp3 player, touch screen and the internet. However when do you think we'll see the most important technological advance, a freakin true voice phone where everybody's doesn't sound the same? I am sick of all these advances yet we can't get people to sound like what they do in person. Companies waste billions of dollars of garbage marketing when they should spend it on build a damn network that can support high voice quality.
The only way I could afford my Samsung 809 was if I signed a 2 year lease with T-mobile. If by chance I am making a **** load of money 2 months removed from graduation next may, that baby is mine.
Early reviews: http://www.engadget.com/2007/06/23/new-details-about-the-iphone/ Remember the winning Engadget commercial, "The Long Arm of Steve Jobs"? We posted it after the break, but finding someone who's spent some serious time with a pre-launch iPhone and getting them to talk is basically a lot like that. Still, we managed to smuggle out some freshly leaked details from a very trusted inside source who's been fooling around with a unit. Here's what they had to say: * The keyboard was simply described as "disappointing". Keyboarding with two thumbs often registers multiple key presses (two or three at a time) resulting in a lot of mistakes. The best way to type is with a single finger (as shown in most of Apple's demos), but two thumbs is supposedly very difficult. After trying it for a number of days our source gave up using their thumbs. * The text auto-correction only works well for simple words, but doesn't work for proper names. We can only assume this bit will get better with time as Apple fills out its predictive text dictionary. * "It won't replace a BlackBerry. It's not good for text input. It's just not a business product." * The touchscreen was said to, in general, require somewhat hard presses to register input, and needs some getting used to. * In addition to its dock, the iPhone comes packaged with a polishing cloth (the thing's supposedly a fingerprint magnet, no surprise) and the usual smallish power adapter. * The Bluetooth headset will debut in the $120 range, and will come with its own dock for charging both the phone and the headset. The headset will feature a miniature magnetic charging interface á la MagSafe. Click on for more impressions on the headset, browser, YouTube, and more. * The Bluetooth headset has a hidden LED and is supposedly a very small and elegant device. Sound quality is said to be "typical". There is no clip; like many headsets you're expected to just let it hang out of your ear, as previously shown. * The browser "worked well" but page load speeds on EDGE were just as slow as expected. It sounds like 3G users will have a tough run with this. * Users must scroll through the address book (or use the alphabet-drag on the side) -- one cannot bring up the keyboard and type in a name, as many of us are used to. * Shocker: YouTube over EDGE didn't work well at all, and will basically necessitate use of WiFi. Ok, that's all we've got for now. At this point we're just really looking forward to putting the spurs to this thing -- Apple is hyping this product like nothing we've ever seen before, and we're ready to bring every detail to light. In the mean time, here's that commercial again. Crash and burn.
Man, the PS3 fanboys are always 'On Duty'. As for the phone; I'm not going to trust 'rumors'; too many agendas out there (both on the negative and positive side). I'll wait for more 'official' stuff, or even more importantly, when I can try it for myself. Which may be a while. I'm not dropping 500/600 on something I don't 'need' anytime soon.
I've been reading the reviews that have trickled out, and fortunately they are overall very happy w/ the phones. The reviewers actually believe the product comes pretty close to living up to the height. While I'd love to have one it would really be a luxury item, seeing how I don't need any of the functionality except for making phone calls and an address book. I hope it's a smashing success though, I've been a stockholder for ~1-2 yrs, and it's done REALLY well for me.
this Fon will rock. it Will sell well. i Will wait until the price comes down. it Will get better as newer versions come out. it Will make nokia, motorolla, and other companies pick up the pace or get left behind. this really is TOO much to spend on a Fon unless you just have a ton of money to spend.
