I won't spend that much on a phone, myself, but they are going to sell a TON of them. I read a story the other day online that their advanced orders are through the roof and, like someone else posted, they may have a hard time keeping them in stock. It looks really cool, but I had a Blackberry and really didn't like it at all. I don't need to be THAT connected.
i am in need of a new ipod, camera, and phone so it just makes sense that i get this... the only worry i have is that it wont be compatible with my car stereo/itrip hookup..
the phone looks cool, i recently bought a Treo though, so no need for a new phone for awhile. I cant see the battery life being very good for the iphone. i'd like to play around with it before buying it, but like someone posted people will pay for it, shown by the pre-orders being sky high.
i want one but i would like to wait a while for the price to go down and to see how the phone actually works from other people. unlike when i spent $500 on a Rzr phone and it breaking 6 months later and not have insurance on it because they wouldnt let me.
The RAZR was another phone I couldn't figure out. It was thin. Yippee. And you're gonna pay what for a thin phone that was crappy and buggy to begin with? BTW, the RAZR was discounted after a year... there are no plans to subsidize the iPhone are there - I know it won't be at launch. My guess is they'll bring out a cheaper version or drop the price on this one, add some memory and sell that new one for $500.
I thought I could buy the iPhone to replace my old iPod. Then, I found it only has 8GB. That's 10% of what I need on my iPod. I'll pass for now and wait for the second generation.
I love my Blackberry but the iPhone has a bigger screen (about double), which makes viewing email and surfing the internet much better. The music part of the iPhone doesn't appeal to me because I prefer having my iPod and phone separate. If the battery life and touchscreen don't end up being problematic, I will eventually get one even though I like T-Mobile. Man, the large screen is irresistable! I'm rooting for Apple. If the iPhone is a runaway success it will put huge pressure on competitors to get their act together and compete with better products. That is a good thing for all of us. Some people seem to resent the hype, but innovative products that push the envelope are what competition is all about. If it weren't for the iPod, MP3 players wouldn't be nearly as good as they are today. We can at least hope the iPhone has a similar (if lesser) effect on improving mobile phone hardware.
Here we go again. Other than aesthetics, what envelope is Apple pushing? MP3 players were better than iPods before iPods. iPods just became "cool" and had a great packaging (small and sleek). MP3 players offered more than Apples have and to this day still do. Touch-screen phones already exist(ed) overseas - this isn't a first. Phones that play mp3's already exist. Phones with expandable memory (I don't believe the iPhone's is expandable) already exist. Phones with much faster 3G+ transmission speeds exist (the iPhone doesn't have it). Phones with push email like Blackberries already exist - the iPhone (nor anyone else, to my knowledge) doesn't do this. What the iPhone has is "the gee whiz" form factor. BTW, don't compare US phones to the iPhone - compare phones worldwide to the iPhone - phones overseas blow away anything the US phone market has. That being said, I'd be all over this phone if the thing was $149 or less - it really is a cool looking phone.
Yeah, because we're ALL overseas, right, Dr of Dunk? I mean, who cares what's overseas when we can't use it? With ANYTHING being said, I can't afford this. I'd like to see what people thought before the iPod came out, and after the price dropped. I bet many people changed their mind.
Must suck having to call your bank and get your acct. balance: AUTOMATED SYSTEM: Please enter your 16 digit account # Max: Damnit!!!!!
Hey, I can't help it if the US phone market stinks. lol. I hear little villages in Korea get 10-40 megabit Internet speeds, too. (Yes, we suck in broadband speeds, too)
There isn't a single new technology that came from the iPod or the iPhone. The iPod forced competitors to make MP3 players more user friendly, "sleek" if you like. I define "sleek" as more fun and attractive for consumers. Hopefully the iPhone will do the same thing.
I *LOVE* my Ocean. I'm still tempted by the iPhone, but I can't see buying one unless it's just dominatingly awesome. I didn't want to spend $300 on the Ocean (it's $200 at Fry's now, but when I got it, the phone was exclusive to Gamespot and EBGames), but it looks like it might be worth every penny. The only complaints I have are that it's sort of bulky, the web-browsing isn't quite as awesome as I'd hoped, and the speakerphone is not loud enough. Other than that, it's everything I hoped it could be, and more!
The iphone looks nice but its just way too much for me money wise and tech wise... and i'm a pretty clumsy person so it looks like if i were to drop the iphone it would be dead
You can buy unlocked gsm phones and use them. Touchscreen phones aren't as readily available with US carriers but if you want one, then go on ebay
