There's been no definite answer to that... but I'm guessing since the App Store is a legal business and you're pretty much downloading apps for free that are actually priced at the App Store, it's illegal. But honestly, it would really make no sense for you to jailbreak your phone in the first place if you're not going to download those apps for free.
Thanks for your replies. I find it hard to believe (perhaps I am that naive) that all these people want to jailbreak their iPhones so that they can essentially steal apps. I guess I shouldn't find it so hard to believe - sigh.
Of course not, those games are being pirated ie stolen. They are for sale for the publisher and developer to make money and make more products. Stealing them, ie downloading them for free, is illegal, it is the same as stealing music. DD
well, i didnt keep any illegal apps. i paid for apps in cydia just like i paid for apps in itunes. maybe if i were still a college student, i would make more use of installous etc. but i jailbroke b/c i wanted to have access to apps not available in appstore. apple has a lot of restrictions about what they approve to be sold. Mywi, My3G, DiskAid and Cycorder were the main reasons i first jailbroke. i had a 3G and i wanted video recording, tethering, and the ability to use skype on a 3G network. apple also wont let you access system files on iOS. DiskAid lets u do that on jailbroken devices. it's not all about getting free apps. although i have trialed apps from installous when i first jailbroke but purchased the ones i liked later.
The ettor reads: There was a problem downloading the software for the OpHone. The network connection timed out. Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later. It gives me that error after trying to download for around 30 min.
I tried my luck. They were gonna replace the entire phone so I passed. Warranty still good till around Aug. So I just had em replace USB cable, which was jacked up. Didn't have to look at the phone for that.*
You could've also pulled another trick. Let the phone completely die... Just told them you were in a hurry and needed a replacement and they would've given you one. It's really easy nowadays to get replacements from them.
Ah, I don't know why I completely ignored that part. But honestly, he should've just taken the replacement. The exterior of the "refurbished" iPhone they give you makes it seem like it's brand new. There's nothing wrong with the phone itself and the battery is usually good as new. That's actually the best thing to do if you're looking to sell an iPhone... just get it replaced (if your warranty is still intact) and you'll have a mint condition phone that you could possibly get a higher price for.
I think my iphone is out of warranty, but I cannot sync and backup my phone. I tried a lot of crap this afternoon, and nothing works. Now when I click on any app, it will crash.
