Mine isn't unlocked/jailbroken..I don't think. It's exactly as it was when I used it, except I took the SIM card out. Isn't jailbreaking the phone free anyways?
I've had two BB 8700G's, and three different curves. I LOVED my blackberry's. I agonized over whether or not to get an iphone and I did it mostly to spite T-mobile after they pissed me off (I know.....I know......like they really care if they lose one customer). Anyway.......I can't believe I didn't switch sooner. It seems like every day I stumble on something (that might sound small) that makes me think: this damn phone is SO fricken cool. Within a week, I had forgotten about the querty keyboard on the BB, and it just seems like to me...someone who LOVED his blackberry......that the iPhone is still YEARS ahead of the competition.
I was fairly lucky, the going rate seemed to be $350-$400 at that time, not sure if its changed I dropped it and broke the screen a week ago and spent $100 on a new one, so I guess i'm in for $400 now. Its worth it though, can't go back now
Oh yeah - price... ATT paid me $75 bucks to get a blackberry. Iphone? Not so much. My cheap b*stard tendencies have a hard time justifying the iphone price tag.
I've never owned a BB, so I can't comment on that. I love my iPhone (1st generation STILL). The apps make it worth it. The ease of use and the web browsing are icing on the cake. Oh, yeah...it's also the only iPod I've ever owned.
I was thinking about the iPhone, but I'm so friggin' sick to death of the touch screen phone I have I decided to to go the BB route. Bought the BB Tour last night. Ended up getting it for $49.99 down from $149.99 being a 8 year customer since I told them I was leaving for AT&T, and my unlimited data plan is $82.00 a month including taxes. I couldn't find a price comparable to that with AT&T, plus Verizon's service rocks.
I have a blackberry bold from work and my wife has had a curve and currently has an iphone. The only things better about a blackberry are the keyboard and push mail. I can type an email almost as fast as an computer. For everything else the iphone is better. It has a better browser and better apps. Its also an ipod. Blackberry apps suck and and most apps cost lots of money. For instance, it costs 20 bucks to see pdf files on a blackberry. I would only buy blackberry if you see yourself typing a lot of emails or sms messages.
I have a blackberry curve and an Ipod Touch. Work pays for my bb. I like it ok. It's nice for sending emails, IM's, and minimal web browsing. I like my touch but I don't carry it on me all of the time because it's not my phone. I'd much prefer to have an IPhone but work isn't paying for those (yet.)
messaging (IM, Email, MMS, SMS) - Blackberry UI/OS - Apple Browser/Internet Experience - Apple Available applications - Apple Multimedia capabilities - Both can do many of the same things Aesthetic and Design - Apple Overall Battery Life - Blackberry Subsidized price + data plan prices - Both are expensive I'm just going off of my own experiences as I've owned iphone 1.0, 3G, 3Gs, blackberry bold. For those of you out there that might want best of both worlds (touch + physical keyboard) and can stomach WinMo (albeit an improved 6.5), check the xperia 2 out. oh and it's priced at a ridiculous $1000.
I like my BB simply because of the price of the phone ($50) and my plan at ~$65/mo (1000 minutes + unlimited data/text/etc).
i have one more month left on my t-mobile contract... i am planning to get a iphone...i generally use my phone a lot for text, emails and IM. i also browse a lot...i guess i have to get used to the touchscreen. the only thing is keeping me away from the bb is the web browser. the iphone has better web browsing capabilities.
yes drool is all I can do at this point! being unemployed and being a gadget w**** don't mix well... this thing looks promising. Works with the T-mobile 3g band. It'll be interesting as this and a host of other umpc's will battle it out..including the mac tablet. Here is a hands-on review http://www.techradar.com/news/phone-and-communications/hands-on-nokia-n900-review-631040 on a side note, they need to move the space key on the keyboard to the center position for NA market.
just bought myself an iphone 3gs yesterday. before this, i did own a bb curve. texting and email were definitely more convenient w/ the curve. however, im loving the iphone so far.
