Thanks for confirming. That's exactly what I am talking about. Much faster for those of you who haven't already updated. You guys might also want to download iTunes 10.5 from a different site other than Apple right now.
The notifications are awesome, browsing is significantly (noticeably) faster. Beyond that it's kind of whatever. I don't like that they split videos to it's own app, but I don't have a lot of videos either. Hopefully the geo-reminders are good.
I watched the review of iOS 5 on AOTS yesterday...I can't believe the phone didn't already do what everyone else's phones have been doing for years. You can get to the camera from the lock screen? The weather app tells you what the weather is where you are right now? Notifications don't interrupt you? Cutting edge stuff. Siri is pretty cool, though.
Just upgraded my wife's and my phone. She had the 3G and me the 3GS so it's a big upgrade for both of us. There were 5 people in front of me when I came into the AT&T store around 12:30pm. Waited about about 10 minutes. Not bad at all. They did run out of 16GB so I got two 32GB. So $200 more than I planned to spend but not too bad otherwise.
Waited for 20 minutes or so, but they were conveniently out of the 16gig so I had to get the black 32 gig for sprint. $300 plus $100 + activation the service plan which even with the $45 co-pay, it comes out to $6 a month for two years.
I'm not getting a 4s, but I'm loving the update on my 4. It is absolutley crazy how fast the browser is now. Still haven't hammered out all the details with the wireless syncing and iCloud yet.
Siris already pissing me off. I know it's a beta but apparently it requires connection to the network to even work. I have no idea why it's functionality is not just local on the phone itself. But the servers are overloaded and 85% of the time the Siri function has not been working. The forums are flooded with issues.
Anyone with the new 4s having trouble accessing iTunes on your computer? It just keeps giving me a blank page. Already uninstalled and installed again, nothing seems to be working to get it to display.
I'm an apple guy and I think its r****ded how many iphones and ipods come out, with the smallest of modifications. Aesthetics is the only thing that really changes.
haha.. I think the same. I just bought a refurblished 3g unlocked iphone from ebay for a fraction of what the 4g would cost. And it's 90 percent the same! I'm not an Apple person, but I like the free/cheap apps deals you can find everywhere. There's got to be a bazillion older iphones no one wants.
That is the exact opposite reason why they only provide Siri on the 4S. They are saying they did not provide Siri on the other phones because the 4S has the new A5 chips that can handle it. Which does not make sense because then the iPad 2 should have Siri.
None of the processing is done on the phone anyway. It's all sent out to Apple servers, the proof being that someone has actually ported Siri to the iPhone 4. However, it doesn't work because Siri's servers are only authenticating the 4S and thus the 4 can't connect to the service. In reality, any iPhone could handle Siri it seems.
