I don't think there's been a firm time, AFAIK. I've seen some sites actually point to overnight but i don't think anyone knows for sure.
As much as I appreciate how much computational power is required by all of those functions, and how it seems to understand the speaker perfectly, etc. ... eh, not THAT impressed. I see where it's going. And that by iteration 4 or 5 it will be very impressive, but I don't think I would use that much, in its current form. Frankly, the only time I might use it would be while in the car at a stoplight or something... which I try not to do anyway. But if iteration 4 or 5 (or earlier or later), allows me to just quickly say: "Phone, email my mom without my review, subject is 'this weekend', message is 'hey mom what are you doing this weekend?" and have the phone just go ahead and do all that then it would be great. And if by iteration 6 or 7 (or earlier or later), I can just say "Phone, email my mom asking what she's doing this weekend" and it automatically does it, filling in the subject line, and writing the message in a manner typical for how I communicate, then it would be fantastic. I hope there are a bunch of people who use it in its current form, to push it towards a more advanced state, but I won't be one for the moment.
And it's going to take over an hour to download. Sitting here watching the minutes continue to rise. yawn.
I think what it is doing already is fairly impressive, but yeah the most fun will be in watching how/if it evolves from here. Here's another with a little more in depth look: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/8BLzMCiR0G4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I guess sometimes comcast is good for something...my download is just about done, took about 10 minutes.
I have the iPhone 4 and i updated. There is no camera button on the home screen. Am I missing a setting or is that for the Iphone 4s only?
Siri looks really advanced actually. Could be once again the thing that differentiates Apple from its competitors. I installed iOS5 on my 3GS and the features are pretty nice and cool. Reader for Safari would seem to be much more useful than I thought considering Reader on Safari on OS X is not useful at all. The new notification center is nice. There are some mediocre things about the update though. Reminders is useless imo newstand is also useless too many icons now, ios still needs a more radical change to the homescreen.
i guess those features would be useless if you dont use them. im not sure about the 3GS, but iphone 4 i believe can do reminders based on location. that could come in handy. newstand i'm not sure i will use, but for people who subscribe to magazines, probably will be great. though i see that app being used on iPads more than iPhones. again, not sure about 3GS, but with iphone 4 you can group icons into folders. which is what i do, clears out the icons taking up numerous screens. though after having messed with iOS 5. i find it odd you should have to double tap the home button to get the camera button on lock screen, why not just add it after 1 touch of the home button? also, after looking forward to this update, saw so many still pics/vids of notification center, i guess i just assumed that the lock screen showed your notifications just like the notification center. which isnt the case. but again, i dont see why they didnt do that. maybe in a future update they tweak some things
I actually think I did get a pull down on the lock screen after a few different notifications piled up. I'll have to test some more. Also: heheh
hmm..yea i've only had 1 notification at a time so far, and all i get is a pop up on the lock screen.
