Even if my old-ass ears aren't good enough to tell the difference, I've spent too much money on decent stereo equipment to limit myself to 256 AAC. I want to use a lossless codec.

Slightly off-subject: lossless files via itunes sent through my network to a good DAC/sound system and controlled by the remote app for airplay on my iphone is really, really, really cool. Now that I have a couple of decent DAC's, I will probably never again wonder............"should I get a turntable....."

I guess that A6 chip will be a quad-core chip.

very true. i'm just thinking out loud. also have to figure, i bet the jailbreakers get siri working on iphone 4's soon enough. i mean people are citing that the iphone 4 processor cant handle siri, i'm not sure how true that is. again, thinking out loud, if the iphone 4 can record 720p video, how can it not handle voice recognition? wouldnt recording video be more "stressful" than voice recognition software?

LOL theft? For what copying the shape? More like they are pissed that Samsung is their real competition. Calling people copy cat when Apple go and steal some of the functions from Android OS. Oh I wonder what LG Prada have to say about this.

I'm still not convinced, but Engadget's trials:

    http://www.engadget.com/2011/10/04/iphone-4s-hands-on/

The most impressive part was the demo of Siri, the new assistant that lets you do just about anything you can do on your phone -- but with your voice. We tried to psych it out with a bunch of random requests, including the history of Chester, Vermont (a lovely town) and the best Ramen places in San Francisco. Siri never faltered, never missed a beat. It worked as well as Scott's demo up on the stage. There's nothing better to say than that. We even sent ourselves a few text messages, which Siri transcribed to a T. Of course, the lady on the other end still sounds eerily robotic, but we're hoping for smoother responses from the alien within in a future update.

Yeah, all the previews look solid. Like I said, it's more a natural progression in a lot of the voice control software. As mentioned, though, I don't know how much I would use it in real life.

Crap. I was waiting for a bigger screen and something thinner, like the Touch. Instead, the screen's the same size and it weighs 3 grams more than the 4. Loved the tech increase inside, but I expected at least that much inside. Guess I'll hold out for the iPhone 5. May as well, since I'm holding out for the iPad 3.

    Crap. Oh, I said that, didn't I!

I'm disappointed but I'll probably upgrade anyway. I waited when the 3G came out and bought the 3GS as my first iPhone. I didn't upgrade with the 4G but my 2 year contract is up so I'm going with the 4GS.

The jump from 3GS to 4S is going to be a pretty big one.

I have a 3GS for my US phone, and a 4 for my Canada phone........The US phone has a canada plan, so I use them both (depending upon the activity) on a daily basis. I don't find the difference that huge. I still prefer the way the 3GS feels in my hand. I haven't played around with ALL of the new phones out there, but I haven't found anything compelling enough to be called better than the 3GS. Maybe apple doesn't need to make this iPhone orders of magnitude better.

The iPhone 4 is not 4G (by standards), neither is the 4S but it will be capable of 4G like speeds up to 14.4 mbps (AT&T Only)

    Well, most people can.

A running case for your phone.

A data plan that allows you enough coverage to stream on long trips.

And, of course, most phones have enough native capacity to where you can download the files you want to listen to on a plane or trip without having to own a separate mp3 player.
