This letdown combined with the reports of Apple cutting iPad orders significantly for the fall does not sound good ... at all. Maybe we'll get a "one last thing" to save the day.
from the gizmodo live blog: This is My Next is reporting that Scott had to speak to Siri "like you would to a child or a foreign language speaker."
Seems sort of odd on a couple of levels: 1. What are all the covers that leaked that had slightly different dimensions, and different spaces for the holes, etc? 2. It seems like if they just called this thing the "iPhone 5", it would have gotten a better reception, especially given the delays and the number of people that just want a 5. The whole thing just seems odd.
i dont think changing the name to iphone 5 would help, people would still say its just the same as iphone 4 with some upgrades. i think apple probably wants to hold off on going to "iphone 5" until theres a design change, however they decide to do that next time.
For tech savvy people, I agree. But for your regular everyday consumer, iPhone5 sounds like an upgrade to their iPhone4. iPhone4s, not so much.
If I can get an iPhone 4 on Sprint, I just might do it. Screw Siri, I don't like talkin' to no computer types! *So wait, is the 4 going to be available on Sprint, or just the 4S?
that and i dont think the processor in the iphone 4 can handle it. read that it would drain the battery in like 15 min
Also surprised they didn't even do any sort of minor design change. These guys are the masters of getting everyone to buy a product again that they already own ("iPod, now available in White! Spend another $200!").
I don't think Siri will be a success. People don't want to talk out loud to a device in public. It's different when you are in your house or in your car, people don't mind voice commands in privacy but outside with other people? Nah you look like an idiot talking to your phone. iPhone 3GS added speech recognition and no one uses it, doubt this will be used either.
