Just got a new iphone, and I love it! So much better than the Blackjack I had. What Apps are worth getting, either free or purchase? Right now, the free ones I have are urbanspoon, brain tuner, shazam, fox sports, s. deadbeef. Fox Sports is kinda weak, I hope ESPN will come out with something better soon. they are all worth getting, since they are free. I bought, each were $0.99, Brain Toot and Chopper. There is a free brain toot, but only had 4 games, for a buck you get 16. I like it, I enjoy playing those types of games (mental math, vision, memorization, etc). Chopper is ok. I think it was worth the buck. You fly a chopper around and save people and blow up tanks. I like it because you control it with the motion of the phone, pretty nifty. Anyone got any other suggestions?
Two useful music apps Pandora (same as pandora for the computer) Simplify media ( allows you to stream your entire library from your computer on your phone)
Most of the apps are a one time fee or free. However I know the voip apps you have to pay for minutes, but that is to be expected.
We're fixing to get a couple of iPhones, finally, after procrastinating for a long time, and I have a feeling that we're going to go nuts buying apps. Nice thread! I'll be checking it.
i.TV is a TV guide app that is just amazing. Sportacular is great for live sports scores Yelp is good for finding bars and restaurants
A list of apps I recommend the most Shovel-Digg WeatherBug Shazaam Midomi AOL Radio Last FM Pandora Radio ITV Google Earth Google app Motochaser Crash Kart Be Like Lil Wayne (just for the sheer stupidity of it) Air Hockey Myspace Facebook I would also recomment Jailbreaking the iPhone using QuickPwn....although there have been issues of late with Apple App store apps not upadating with lastest issue of Jailbreak. Hope this helps!
What are voip apps? Sorry for the unfamiliarity. I plan on getting an iPhone in the next couple months but haven't really done the research yet.
i love playing field runners it is 5 bucks but its a whole lotta fun. Tap Defense is a free game that is really similar to field runners but there are issues with the game and I find field runners to be a whole lot more fun with features and all. The Weather Channel app is also pretty good
download tapdefense and tell me how to beat it on hard, i played for like 2-3 hours waiting at the airport last week and i couldnt get past level 30 on hard, it is one addictive game so beware my friend
Voice over IP basically you can make calls over wifi. The one app I was thinking of is called truphone. Basically you can make international calls for really cheap because its over data with VoIP. You can check it out here http://www.truphone.com/ But yeah, with everything else, its all one time charges through your iTunes account.
IfFound (a neat little app that puts a "if found please call/email" tag on your home screen) Loopt (freaking awesome if you know other people who use it) HoldEm (pretty realistic poker sim) Sportacular (good sports news/stats) Pandora Shazam WeatherBug Guitar Toolkit Tap Tap Revenge S. Deadbeef
DO NOT GET PRINT APP!! I paid $3 for it, and it is completly worthless. You have to have the application 'Weprint' running on your desktop to print anything from you phone. There are many other flaws with it, that arnt worth my time to describe. There is another app out there for printing with HP printers. I hear that one is pretty good, and free. If you have an HP printer, get it and let me know how it works.
Sorry for the bump, but does anyone have the Brushes app? It's kind of like a microsoft paint, but you can do all this stuff with layers and transparency, and it looks pretty cool. Some of the paintings people have used this app for look pretty good. For those who have it, do you recommend I get it? Again sorry for the bump, but it's better than starting a new thread when there's already a few covering the topic.
So good. Rocketfanatic, I only briefly used Brushes on a friend's phone. Seemed to be very full featured. Obviously not as much as a desktop program, but still. Everything I have heard about it has been very very good. As far as recommendations, there's a few apps I've been using I really like: Audible.com has an app out for audiobooks Spoiler Pulse News Reader is an RSS feed reader with a more graphic interface. Syncs with Google Reader, too. Spoiler And Tunein Radio is awesome. Radio streaming app, gets stations all over the country, even streams over 3G. Excellent quality so far in my experience. Spoiler Spoiler I was enjoying listening to Cleveland and New York radio melt down on The Decision day with that last app.
What are good free apps and which ones are worth paying for? The only ones I have paid for so far are Big Buck Hunter + Elk + Bighorn Sheep and Cracked Reader. They have been totally worth the $5 total I spent on them.
