Well i'm assuming the call quality is going to be better considering they added the extra microphone for possible noise cancellation. And i'm pretty sure they opted out of using a single aluminum body (a la iPad) and have the glossy plastic back to help with the reception.
Point is.. AT&T sucks. So, no it won't have better call quality. They can fix up the phone all they want, the network sucks ass. I'm beginning to think Sprint has a better call network than AT&T. I AVERAGE 3 dropped calls a day now... and I'm in the city where AT&T has its headquarters.
What has been lost in this thread is how cool of a story the recovery of an unreleased iPhone really is.
Badly worded on my part. Gizmodo paid $5k Meet the guy who supposedly lost 4G iPhone I don't know what to make of this, but I agree.
Maybe it's your iphone. I have at&t in austin with no problems and there is no way that most of their dallas customers have 3 dropped calls a day.
The network is probably the worst out of the top tier companies as well the mandatory 3g network which is required by like half of their customers.
Doubt it. It's the reception here. In Houston, I NEVER experienced a drop call. NEVER. I had the iPhone 3G for a year in Houston and never experienced signal problems or dropped calls. It happens at least twice a day here in SA. AT&T's headquarters are located here, you'd think they'd have the best reception here. And I'm pretty much in the heart of the city... so it's not like I'm in a suburb where signal could be bad.
I think it's hilarious that the guy who "lost" the iphone there supposedly said he did so because he underestimated the quality of German beer .
email this posting to a friend SF bay area craigslist > south bay > community > lost & found please flag with care: Lost iPhone 4G (san jose downtown) Date: 2010-04-18, 7:18PM PDT Reply to: comm-5yarm-1698812779@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?] So I did it again this last week, consumed way too much straight vodka within perhaps an hour. The party started at 7, I had to be removed by 10pm because I was biting/attacking/wanting/insulting people and in the process lost my employers iPhone 4G prototype model. It was lost at Fahrenheit Ultra Lounge & Restaurant downtown San Jose. The phone was hidden inside of an iPhone 3G case. The device has a front facing camera, 80GB of storage. The device, when found was probably running a newer version of iPhone OS but my employer bricked it remotely within a few hours. Pretty sure i'm going to lose my job over this so if you find the phone please email me. I had to drop AT&T when I moved to Northwest Houston from Austin because I had so many dropped calls. In fact the rep said that they were aware of the issue in that part of town and let me out of the contract with no penalty. I wonder if it is better now?
I called the reps to tell them the issue here. They told me they were aware of it, and they said they were going to repair some of the cell towers here. In the meantime, she could switch me to another cell tower (which she did but I didn't help) and it's been almost 5 months since that call happened. I'm wondering if I can get out of a contract this way.
I would try it. I got the service with a corporate discount (when I worked for Apple ironically enough) so maybe they were a little more accommodating for that reason. edit: I was just looking at getting an iPhone and going back to AT&T since their network issues are better but they can't come close to touching the deal I have with T-Mobile. Guess I will go with an Android phone instead. Looking at the Motorola Cliq-XT
I don't fault Gizmodo for everything they did to get the phone, but outing the dude and plastering his name all over their site was lame. Especially how they were such douchebags about it.
LOL. You believe this crap that the guy forgot his iPhone? This is Apple leaking it out. WHy do you think that iPhone couldn't even load?
