Definitely showing much more than Beasley this far. Beasley gotta prove himself with a 20/10 year soon....
OMG that was a sick crossover on Andre Mill... hahaha hilarious. Derrick Rose is sick. Favorite players as of now: Brandon Roy Derrick Rose D-Wade CP3 When I think about it my favorite players have a similarity: they're all fearless drive and dish players. I hate chuckers.
You and I think similar except I dislike CP3 (his flopping and the way he cuts in front of people trying to draw cheap fouls). If you replace him with LeBron, that might be my top 4.
No love for the Rockets? McGrady Yao Oden (love the guy. don't know why) Wade Rose with Roy, Aldridge, Durant sitting right outside somewhere. I dislike CP3 also. He flails his arms waaaayy too much when trying to draw a foul. He catches people in the face or in the chest a lot with that cheap move. Not to mention the cutting in front of people...
None of the Rockets players catch my fancy. The fact they are Rockets is why I like them. Does that count? Otherwise, I wouldn't follow any of them in particular if they were on another team. Except maybe Yao. KD definitely belongs in my top group too. I actually watch Thunder games because of him. After, Wade, LeBron, Roy, KD and Rose, there are a bunch of other guys I like and follow but not as much.
Ahh yeah I like all the Rockets too. That counts. Hmm then my top 5 would look like: McGrady (liked him before he got to the Rockets, but I admit he wouldn't be too fun to watch if he didn't play for us anymore) Wade Rose Oden Roy With Durant and Aldridge on the bubble (gotta love the Texas standouts)
Exactly. People think I'm not a Rockets fan cause I don't think T-Mac's any good for this team anymore. But the fact is I'm Rockets first and I say it like it is. I'll root for T-Mac even though I don't like his ways, he's a part of the team. But soon as he's gone, I don't care anymore. This is all ironic because my username is McGrady, but that's only because I caught up on the hype when he was first traded here. 1-2 years later I am severely disappointed. My eyes have opened... I got rid of my homerism and I realized what exactly the type of player that wins games... and that's why those are my four favorite players.
I knew DRose was gonna be great for a rookie. That's why I picked him up for my fantasy team as soon as I saw he was free.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJwBZRjNXVw&feature=channel Man this kid's got some serious hoops.... And that's an understatement.
Right now, Mayo's shooting is off the charts for a new rookie. If he keeps shooting jumpers like this the entire season, you could be right and he might take rookie of the year. But I don't think he can keep it up. If I'm wrong, we are looking at maybe the best new jumpshooter in a while. Long term, Rose is the better prospect because his game is well-rounded, he is much more athletic and he makes teammates more efficient. Mayo is very one-dimensional, but he is good at what he does. But don't get too caught in Mayo's last 2 games because Rose's last couple of games have been just as good.
No offense, but the reason that Memphis has such a young team is because its ownership thinks "youth" is the easiest way to get people paying to watch the team without actually committing resources to winning. Michael Heisely has been downsizing Memphis from a playoff-caliber team with a ten-man rotation into a JV outfit. His goal is to spin it off to some TN ownership group for a profit: someone's going to be interested in having an easy-to-manage "clean slate" to work with. The fact that Chris "I have no balls" Wallace is Memphis' general manager is a red flag. That man exists solely as a puppet of others: first Rick Pitino (signing off on his ridiculously-lopsided trades), then Celtics owner Paul Gaston Jr (signing off on the Vin Baker trade, which dramatically increased the profit Gaston made in flipping the team), and now Heisely. Heisely says he's "rebuilding." It's a smokescreen. He's not in Forbes magazine because he enjoys building quality basketball teams. He's in there because he's a greedy and duplicitous businessman. This isn't hate, at least against Memphis and its fans. This is just a realistic assessment, and it saddens be how much the profit motive is ruining sports.
To be fair, Heisley's in his state right now because he mortgaged so much trying to win earlier. Spending all that money for a 2005-06 team that everyone knew was going to have one last go (with EJ, Damon, et al) before falling apart due to age. He spent money early on, handing big deals to Versace and Daly and then West, deals out of wack with the money he was making. The guy was losing money hand over fist even in Memphis' first year, so I can understand why he's cut back right now.
Yeah, i don't get too excited about shooting guards shooting well. The same thing goes for centers who rebound and block shots. It's a good thing, it's just not all that impressive to me. I like watching versatile guys and guys who can create for their teammates.
Well, Heisley has only himself to blame for injecting himself into earlier basketball decisions, a cardinal sin for any team owner. ("I am going to give Jason Williams a ridiculous contract after watching him play seven meaningless preseason games!") He even scouted players for this year's draft, and planned on desperately trading his entire team for Michael Beasely (presumably because he's the biggest name--certainly not because he's the kind of play a team should build around).
Its either about team success or team profitability. If a franchise has neither, it can be hugely irrelevant. I dont disapprove too much teams trying to go minor leagues/ ABA route doing whatever gimmick it takes to get fans in the seats. Who says cuz you suck you have to be professionally boring and not appeal to the casual fan? Players who are aggressive minded and creative on offense, who also know to distribute to others and create offense for their teammates, its the kinda player I like myself.
