Calderon is really underrated... This guy is by far the best PG in the East and arguably the 3rd best PG in the league. Parker is an amazing player, but he's not a conventional PG, and he benefits from playing with Duncan, who is a great passer and who basically runs the Spurs offense. Calderon is at least comparable to Steve Nash in the ranking. Rose is showing he can really ball, but we should at least wait until he finishes rookie season to place him in the ranking.
Um, Calderon can't guard a chair. Ford's loss, and Calderon's increased minutes, are largely why they're below .500 right now. And both Rajon Rondo and Rose are already better playermakers than he is. Jose reminds me of Luke Ridnour. Everyone was on his nuts a few seasons back, but no one pays attention to him anymore.
Calderon is averaging 14.2 ppg, 9.4 apg and with a staggering assist/turnover ratio of 4.5. He's also shooting 47% from field and 43% from 3. Now tell me, when did Ridnour ever average numbers even close to Calderon's? In Ridnour's best season, he averaged 11.5 ppg and 7 apg while shooting much worse percentages. Rajon Rondo being a better playmaker than Calderon? What have you been smoking?
10-18 Shooting 9 Assist 25 Points At this rate, Chris Paul ain't got NOTHING on Rose. This like what? His 15th game in the NBA?
That finish was awesome! After biding his time in the 3rd and much of the 4th quarter, Rose took over the game in crunch time and the Jazz couldn't stop him! I'm so glad Hughes got the rebound off Rose's miss and hit the buzzer-beater. It was so great to see that obnoxious crowd go home disappointed. Again, those of you with NBALP, watch the last 3-4 minutes of this game after it's archived. Even if you don't like Rose, it will make you feel good as a Rockets fan.
Rose has really, really impressed me so far. I didn't think he would be playing like an elite PG in the NBA already. So far I think he deserves ROY over Mayo. Bulls need to surround him with a lot more talent if they want to win big though.
After trailing the Sixers in Philly 41-26, the Bulls went on a 61-30 run led by you-know-who. After 3 quarters, Rose is at 16/4/9. He had an incredible block from behind of Andre Miller on a breakaway. That's how to set an example for the rest of the team. He knows when to turn on the offense and when to set up other guys. Drew Gooden carried them in the 1st half and Rose only had 6 points. He put up 8 more in the 3rd quarter plus assists to blow the game open. The other story here is the Sixers are broken. Very broken.

Anyone here who doesn't think Rose is a very special player is either a)out of their ****ing minds or b)haven't really watched him play. This guy has more size then Paul and is just as quick. His mid-range game is money and his pull-up jumper is ridiculous. His basketball IQ is fantastic.. even in his first year his mistakes a few and far between. I find myself watching bulls games often just to see him play. Can only daydream about having him on the rockets
Derrick rose is the type of player that can get 10 assist AND score 30 points on you in a game. This kid is sick. When he plays, it makes it look so easy for him. His athleticism is on the level of vintage Francis AND he has great PG skills.
One thing that stands out about Rose is not so much his athleticism. Its his body control and fluidity when he soars in for the Sa-WEET layups. Its almost like they're picturesque camera-ready style like he's filming a movie scene of playing basketball or something.
I like your comparison--Derrick Rose is Stevie Franchise in his prime...but with a brain. Rose's got the athleticism that very few PGs possess. That will separate him from the pack.
He also has floor vision, a PG's mentality and has no problem not scoring (when his teammates are up to the task). In the 1st half against the Sixers, Rose let Drew Gooden do the heavy lifting. In the 2nd half, he started scoring. This has happened on numerous occasions. Rose has the maturity to pick his spots and only take over when he has to.
