Players should avoid being like Tracy, Yao and Pete Maravich too I guess...... btw, Steve was a better rookie............by far................
Are you suggesting that Deron Williams and Chris Paul are in the same echelon? I thought it was already settled that Paul is on a different level than Williams.
They are closer then people make it out to be. Paul is clearly the best pg in league (and I have no doubt in my mind barring injury that he will go down as one of the best of all time) , but DWill is clearly the 2nd best pg in the league. Its: 1.Paul 2.DWill 3.Nash The rest
Nahhh, Steve's mentality never grew from his rookie year. Rudy T coddled him and he figured everything would revolve around him forever. At least you can build around Tracy and Yao, Steve is a bit of a mental midget to the game of basketball. Alot of you overrated Steve when you saw him his rookie year, and that's great we needed something since Barkley was retiring and the Dream era was over, but we chose the wrong guy to try and build around. At least we sucked enough while he was here to get Yao, the highlight of the Francis ISO era. (yeah yeah Steve was hurt that year, it was a blessing in disguise) Derrick Rose will have a better career then Francis, book it.
1. CP3 2. JWill 3. Tony Parker 4. Nash 5. JKidd 6. Calderon Those are the only guys he's behind right now. At this rate, by the end of the season he'll be close to the Nash/Tony Parker area, in 4th place.
The Nuggets just paid Rose the ultimate respect: To take the ball out of his hands, they double-teamed him as soon as he crossed the half-court line (and Ben Gordon ends up making a 4-point play). LOL!
You have got to be kidding............ Once Rose leads his team in Points, Rebounds and Assists we can talk..........
I've been saying since I first saw him that this kid is Jason Kidd with a shot. I'm a huge Memphis fan and saw him every time he was on TV and now with NBA Season Pass I'm seeing him every time he plays as a pro. By the way, Memphis has another freshman that is not getting much attention. But mark my words, Wesley Wetherspoon, is a skinny Magic Johnson with a better jumper. By year end, this 6 foot 8 inch freshmen will be one of the best point guards in the country (although he's not always playing point yet).
Francis was a good scorer, but he never had the skill set to make other players around him better. Rose has more understanding of the game at 19 than Steve ever had. DD
The difference is that Rose is instinctively a PG. He sees the floor, can run an offense, is a very good passer and doesn't necessarily want to shoot the ball. He's very content letting others get shots. That is a PG's mentality. From watching his first few games, I get the impression Rose only takes over when he feels like he has to. I agree with your statements, but part of it was SF was not a PG at all. His approach was completely different than Rose. rterry, there are similarities between Rose and Kidd, but Rose's ability to finish at the rim in traffic or to sky and jam it home is something Kidd never did.
That's true on Kidd. Kidd was never as athletic. Rose reminds me of him with his strength in rebounding and court vision, but will be a much better scorer. Defensively I think Rose will be much like Kidd in his prime.
I have a thing for PGs....and Rose is one heck of a rookie PG......so athletic, and so smart on the floor. Dang....Chicago has a real keeper there. DD
They may disagree, but those 3 are claerly better. I'll listen to Billups and Parker over Nash (mainly b/c Nash is decling, Parker has been great and Billups has turned a trash Denver team around) , but not Calderon. He's good, but his team has talent and is losing. Chris Bosh is unhappy and when Calderon tried to talk to him last game, Bosh ignored him completely. He isn't a leader. He has time though. Baron Davis has fallen off dramatically since going to the Clippers. Jason Kidd is still solid, but he's just not the player he once was. If I was drafting pgs right now it would be: 1.Paul 2.Williams 3.Rose 4.Parker After that, I'd have to think about it
