Tate might be the backup plan if Shepard flops .... He saw quite a bit of time as the point guard when Silas was here and the efficiency numbers for the team were real ****ing good - the team scored on just over 72% of the possessions he was the main ball handler.

He can play bully ball with most guards .... and defend 1-4.

If the shooting has improved, he could earn minutes.

The above aside, I agree with @DrNuegebauer - let's keep the powder dry at least until after the start of the season when rosters are set and see who the late cuts are before filling that 14th spot.

What I'm saying is with 10 guys on the roster its hard to convince good vet mins to sign with the team if you tell them "aye you can maybe back up FVV in the playoffs if Reed Sheppard stinks it up." For example Cp3 left cuz Spurs had Fox and Harper he wont go to the Rox for a downgrade in FVV and Reed and back them up.

People want to have backups to the backups be a starter quality player but the reality is we need to wait for injuries or till the deadline and then try to sign guys who matter. Right now anybody we sign will just be a scrub or someone desperate for the vet min deal cuz we have no PT to give them they will just replace Cam Whitmore on the bench.
