Trolling is taking an OBVIOUSLY narrow-minded, or simplistic viewpoint on something clearly not, and hammering your point home to the disdain of the masses. Or, basically, what a certain few individuals do in the D&D every single day. Your initial post was not even close to trolling.
I thought it might be interesting to talk about trolling and it's affect on this bbs. It's kind of like the 500 pound gorilla in the room that no one wants to talk about. I think TJ was the best troll I have ever seen mixing in half truths with an annoying posture that drove everyone nuts. As much as I hated his opinion and what he had to say he was pretty darn good as inciting the masses against him and the art of trolling. The word vitriol is thrown around here a lot and I see everyone ragging on fatty about alcohol or mlwoo trying to hate on fatty. I thought a go to thread to where we can have mlwoo and fatty duke it out would be good. Just like when space city kid and yaos stache start going at it I think to myself they 'need to get a room' why not create a thread they can go to and duke it out? it wouldn't derail threads as much and when the insults get hurled they can go into a time out and try to flame each other in the troll thread. It can also be a gossip/fact finding thread.... Why did heypartner and heyschweetie break up? Did sir jackie chiles change his name and move to s america because he is running from someone? why does mlwoo hate fatty? why is dorkdakota not around? did popeye die? is doc cocky really an insider or just the maintenance man at the toyota center? Do you think Manny will get a new job? Wheres kagy? Can I troll jeff for creating bad music? no maybe I don't REALLY care but after a while these things come up. Sure it's the internet... and fatty is probably a 65 year old phone sex operator in North dakota but I want to know why mlwoo hates him? I think possibly a thread for chewing out and trolling might be answer some things. It's whatever though carry on
Everybody loves a smart ass. Iron McFist! Holy Hell. Haven't seen you around these parts in quite some time. The only trolling I'll admit to doing is when it comes to UT football. UT fans deserve it.
I do too and I think being a smartass is great actually. My thing is it derails threads, it gets personal and can even be downright ugly. When it turns ugly there can be an option for that. No swearing or too crazy but it could get pretty rowdy and I am ready for it. After all this is the internet and it is anonymous. Why not have an outlet to say how you really feel like not derailing the thread at hand. I like a cat fight just like the next guy and most of you act like little girls. It might be fun to rag on people in one thread and have it be the death cage match, sticky fight thread. We can all sit around and watch it and chime in like the children that we want to be. "oh so you want to step outside and handle this like men? well then meet me at the troll insult thread. "
I was thinking semi-similar sentiments recently. Of how I'm surprised at some of the particular posters having the highest rep points on CF. Without committing names to memory, a few times I've had the thought "That poster's really douchified"... Thats amidst other complaints from members that GARM sucks, the board doesnt contribute meaningfully, etc. Then months after the rep system was put in, the non-meaningful posters are LEADING the pack in reps ? Obviously browsing CF is all self serving ego boost to pass the time until something important happens. I resist the urge to get pat-on-the-back rep for unloading on someone else all arrogant like, but whatever " it is what it is". *Lecturing people about positivity and the better way like that can generate troll responses back Some good ol' STFU action "

IBTL, honestly you are like 2 things in one...disappointment and regret. There was a recent string of hooker suicides in the last year. disagree macbeth was much more verbose. IBTL doesn't seem as smart (yak) as macbeth -- you can tell by his writing style. It's much more choppy and short vs. macbeth's.
idk if he's macbeth or not, but he's clueless about what trolling is unless i'm missing some hidden messages or something
