Regarding this board, I think there is a limit of saved threads & posts under your account history here, right? So, let's say if we are still posting at 50 years old and our history from 2008 will be gone if we're regular posters but it won't be gone if you don't post that much or post threads. I think that's how it is with this board. Correct me if I'm wrong. There are more factors involved. For example, we don't know if the server of the message board will lose data at a point in the future and our post history is wiped out. This is an interesting concept though.
Orrrr.... You could just donate to the tipjar at some point in the next 60 years. That's an even better way to get promoted.
I thought about that too, and the posting history may not be entirely available to people of our age, but I think that at some point there will be nearly limitless storage for sites like this. Eventually we (meaning our great, great, great, great, great, great, great, great grandchildren) may be able to look back on hundreds of years worth of internet posts. Then again, the world ends on December 12, 2012 anyway, so I guess this discussion is moot.
I always wondered if oeilpere Willed his userid/password to his daughter and told her to make a post for him two years later...
guess my attempt at humor is off target. I started to write, in general, if people would Will their userid/passwords to offspring. I'm thinking people are going to mention their accounts in their Wills, so how. Maybe a last request to delete their posts, or to transfer their post counts to someone else. haha.
Isn't it even a strong likelihood that in 60 years you'll actual be a different person than you otherwise would have been had you not used message boards. they won't just be a window into the past, but they'll help shape the future. I know my thoughts and viewpoints have been shaped by message boards to a certain degree. I wonder what the differences would be in 2 parallel universes in 2070 - one that is the one we are currently living in and a second one which is exactly the same except the internet never grew to become anything more than a medium for selling goods?
More than a likelihood. It's a reality. I have learned things that I never would have without this message board. I've also made real life friends through this board, and I think that anyone who is more than an acquaintance shapes our lives somehow in the long run.
I'm looking forward to the first presidential race with a candidate who has posted on a BBS. He'll get clobbered.
Yeah, I did because I wanted some serious responses and this thread strayed off topic from the start. I'm also a Rockets moderator over there.
weird i went back and search what my first post was and found it. oddly it was something about tim floyd..weird also found a post by some guy named geeimbranded that hated rick adeleman and told me to drop-dead because i refuted some arguement of his from the kings/lakers series of 02 i guess he was a lakers fan or wonder what he thinks now if he still posts
