For some reason I thought Dancing Baby started on Ally McBeal, which I never watched, which would have been closer to 1998 - 1999. I think in '96 most memes were offline and they were just jokey references to the internet itself, like "clownpenis.fart". I think ****ty chain mails and emoticons were memes back then.
I don't know if "What Color is the Dress?" a fad as it seems to have died down after about three days. I think a fad needs to be able to last at least a month. The next fad by nature is going to be hard to predict given in spring of 2012 how many could predict that Gangnam Style would be the biggest fad of Summer and Fall. I do think we are seeing the beginnings of a fad for Photoshops of this.
No idea wtf this is.... lol And that ^ right there is my fad. Which we're still in, abbreviating the **** outta everything! IDFWU, BRB, OMW, OMG, STFU, etc... etc... :grin:
