I was really looking for the fastest speed when I had my Comcast installed since I'm a torrent download maniac. I would download torrents an average of 10GB a night by time I wake up and try surfing the net my pages would load SLOW. They don't call or tell you anything once you download an average or 10GB or 15GB's the internet cap comes in effect automatically. You all of sudden find yourself crawling in the net so, that should automatically pop in to your head that they have put a internet cap. I'm pretty sure it's computerized in their servers on how much speed one can have. While on the other hand with my current AT&T DSL I find myself downloading 15GB and my internet speed doesn't suffer because of it. I can go on and surf the net like I normally do. Seems like AT&T has more patience with their customers than Comcast. I'm not trying to be sarcastic about AT&T but, I really like their service. I don't download 15GB every single night but, I'm just saying AT&T has a more reliable service when it comes down to having the speed I PAY for.
That's what was so mindboggling - we'd had them for YEARS. At first, they were the ONLY provider of ANY high speed internet in our area, so we were hooked early on... But this whole thing went down recently - AFTER they'd done the whole Prodigy/SBC/ATT/Yahoo! conglomeration/merger/takeovertheworld thing... That's what really got our goose - it shouldn't have mattered anyway, since they're all the same entity and they're all making money off us.
I have Uverse and I love it. Much better than Comcast, in both customer service and product reliability.
After u-Verse came to the neighborhood, I changed from DiwreckTV but I never had cable. The service and support are great. They sent me a brand new remote control for my DVR after mine had stopped working without asking any questions. I feel ya, brotha. I feel ya. The search is ON, sir. . Also, RedBox Code comin' right up.
I really wish ATT or Windstream serviced the Missouri City area...I'm moving there in less than a month and my only choice is pretty much Comcast. I've had Windstream for about a year and it rocks.
I'm surprised at the folks that have had connection problems with Comcast. Other than the hurricane, my service has trucked right along for years. This is at two different apartments and now my home. There are a LOT of things about Comcast that sucks, but damn it the Internet connection/speeds keeps me with them. 10GB a night? Jesus. I don't know how big the AT&T DSL userbase is, but I wonder if you'll at some point find they start paying a little extra attention to you.
Well Comcast's television service is an absolute train wreck compared to U-verse. I'm so glad I switched.
Well I don't really know but, as long as I keep having my internet speed steady I really don't give a damn. Comcast just didn't cut it for me why the Powerboost? if you can't take advantage of it. I'll keep my 6mbps any given day.
haha yeah, hopefully it'll be a while before they make any changes. What kind of speeds were you getting with Comcast? I think Powerboost is basically in place for a set amount of data - a 'short burst' at the beginning of a download. This is why you would notice the difference just loading a web page, but it would not last over the course of a long download. That's what I have read anyway. This is also why speed test sites aren't necessarily 'accurate', but I guess they still give you a good idea of the quality of the connections. On most speed tests I get an average of 14-18mbps.
