They'll probably be most useful as slashers and keeping their man in motion on offense. Not to mention they are pretty good finishers around the rim. Obviously, they'll need to take a step forward in order to stay on the court except Capela.
KJ: Needs to work on corner 3s. Harrell: Needs to work on PNR with Harden, setting nasty picks and hitting elbow jumpers or runners. Capela: Needs to become a 70% ft shooter.
All these guys need to make big steps this year or they can just leave: Beverley, Ariza & Brewer (back to normal), D-Mo if he stays, KJ, Capela, Harrell & Dekker.
I don't see how KJ fits on an MDA team unless he drastically improves his 3 point shooting. I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved in the Offseason. Harrell, although a bit too small, could see some time as MDA's small ball center, and he'll need to continue to work on basic defensive fundamentals as well as his mid-range jumper. However, Dekker is going to be key to any turnaround. He's exactly what we would be looking for in a Stretch 4 if he were to improve on literally every aspect of his game from YR 1. I'll lob his issues up to injuries, and hope that we see the guy from Wisconsin we thought we were getting.
Harrel could be serviceable next year. Dekker is effectively A rookie in his 2nd year. And McDaniels will not play unless he can shoots 3s.
