Thanks for the interesting stat. As I was looking over it, I also noticed that we are 0-6 when no one plays.
He puts up big numbers against guys like Villanueve, Pachulia, Lopez, and Thad Young. Big whoop. He should. That's a quartet of the worst big man defenders in the whole league (except for Terrence himself). He's been awful defensively. These games are, once again, fools gold. Just a tease that means nothing. He won't perform when we go against playoff front lines. And anybody that's gonna look at the box score and not see what happened in the games...is being foolish. He was nothing but a sieve defensively. He gave up more than he got. Plum ridiculous to look at these last 2 games as meaning anything positive for him. They weren't. And they're just an indicator of what is going to continue to come our way with him in there.
Jones box out and help defense has been atrocious. Watch the games. He's not the reason for the losses. Or main reason. But he hasn't helped much.
I think TJones awkward movements make the team lethargic. He's like basketball's version of the sandman.
People out here making it look like Tjones always plays as he did in the last two games. Guy is in a contract year. Of course he's playing hard. He's trying to get paid.
Basketball is a team game. Rockets have spacing, rebounding, and defensive issues. Ariza isn't shooting well enough to provide spacing at the 3. However, PFs respect him enough to try to challenge his shot and need to be closer to contest as they are slower than SFs. If he keeps shooting poorly, this may change. If he starts hitting his shots, he might start providing spacing as a 3. Lawson isn't shooting well and isn't providing spacing. Howard and Capela don't provide spacing. Jones, while shooting well enough to provide spacing, isn't shooting often enough from range to force defender on him. Brewer doesn't provide spacing. So what happens when Jones is in the game with the healthy members of the rotation is that the defense just plays off everyone, but Harden. Lawson, Harden, Ariza, Jones, and Howard have been only lineup I've seen really work the past few games with Jones in the lineup. It has played well by talent level to overcome difficulties, but things weren't easy. Defense and rebounding aren't there for any lineup. Spacing seems to be better with Ariza at the 4 and Rockets wins came in games that Rockets just outscored opponents and punted rebounding. Players either need to play better, coaches need to coach better, or roster changes need to be made likely for more shooting.
dmo sitting out still recovering is indeed an issue. but to blame our woes on jones is not hitting the point. tj is a garbage man. his importance on the team's effectiveness is minimal. also note in the mavs game he's sorta a bright spot. the same goes to our rookies. before we can fix the issue on defensive EFFORT, all other issues are kinda secondary.
TJ could be an all star PF, but funny that Rockets never try to develop him, but keep looking for other PF.
FYI, OP here. Not saying that TJ is the "reason" for our losses. But I think this is a good indication that he is NOT the reason for winning. Like I said, he's a good roleplayer on a championship team. That's not an insult by any means, but he's not a star or an integral game winning cog. If T-Jones is averaging 23p 7r 3b, your team is a lottery team and that's what we've looked like the past 2 games.
Starting him couple seasons in a row, starting him in the playoffs couple seasons in a row is not considered as trying to develop him? You'd rather prefer DMo treatment when you sit on the bench, sometimes/usually for entire 48 minutes? Is that the kind of development you want Rockets to apply for Jones?
bwhahaha You must not be watching these games. We're hurting at every position except the Center position defensively. ( well when Dwight is playing). When Dwight doesn't play, we're hurting at every freaking position. And if I had to pick a position that's the worse, it will be the SG position. Every team is going straight at James Harden.
You forgot the 3 twenty point blow outs for the first 3 games of season as well. Its all TJs fault we all know that now and when DMO The Magnificent comes back and turns the season around while setting the NBA on fire like many of the Little Minions are predicting then we will all be happier in here. Personally I'm expecting nothing less than all star caliber play with all the DMO hype in here when he returns. To me having a James Harden, Dwight Howard and Ty Lawson not playing all that well on your team and some disgruntled fans turn around to point the finger at a role player for the losses is just plain laughable, hell even when that role player is playing well he still gets thrown under the bus for the losses LOL. Its comical. If your an objective fan you'll agree that the whole team has looked like utter crap this entire season and in the win against OKC they still had to come back from down 15pts on their own home court to win that game. The chemistry is off on both ends of the court and if disgruntled fans want to blame a role player for the 6 losses than so be it. And for whoever said TJ could ever be an all star or is a star I respectfully disagree with you.
