dimsie, I don't think he is charming. I am just speaking about a large amount of Americans who thought so. He seemed more "real" and "human" because he is a big dufus, I guess.
Very true. It's not going too far out on a limb, though, to opine that Nader contributed to Gore losing Florida. But, we'll never know.
Since there seem to be quite a few Moore fans (a group to which I once belonged) I thought I'd pass along some select comments: ---"Many Families have been devastated tonight. This is just not right. They did not deserve to die. If someone did this to get back at Bush, then they did so by killing thousands of people who DID NOT VOTE for him! Boston, New York, DC and the planes' destination of California - these where places that voted AGAINST Bush!" Posted on www.michaelmoore.com on 9/12/01 & subsequently removed. Yeah Mike, too bad they didn't kill more Republicans. ---BROWN: Fifteen seconds, do you feel good or bad about your country these days? MOORE: I love this country and I love the people in it. And I think that we've been through a very difficult time. And we're going to identify where the real evil is, root it out, and make this country a better place." from Newsnight with Aaron Brown. It appears he's not talking about OBL, but GWB. http://www.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0202/19/asb.00.html ---"If 15 out of the 19 hijackers were from Saudi Arabia, why would we bomb Afghanistan?" http://www.browndailyherald.com/stories.cfm?S=0&ID=6415 ---"The amazing thing is that you can even still get a Wall Street Journal--anywhere and everywhere. As I write this late Sunday night, the captains of Capitalism are declaring that the stock exchange will re-open on Monday, even if they don't have running water and phones, just to show its enemies that NOTHING can stop the forward accumulation of wealth." 9/18/01 http://www.michaelmoore.com/2001_0917.html ---"...we're in the dark ages in this country right now" because "we are the only country in the whole world without dominant state-controlled media." http://www.murmurs.com/news/newsstory/index.asp?newsid=2382
