I would agree too that Cuttino was being sat out because of Larry Smith. But we would never know the things off-court in these situations. They probrably had a conflict and Larry sat him out. WE MISS YOU RUDY!!!!

Why is everyone in love with Van Gundy?

I understand Dunleavy Sr., but Van Gundy? Please keep Larry Smith if that is the Rockets other option.

    I don't like Van Gundy,
but im very sure that Calvin would be a great addition to the rockets coaching job. I like his perspective and his willingness to help the players develope. But I also like Rudy T.!!!! We need Rudy back ASAP! He knows this team more then anyone, we just need some help in developing the team and players and also help build confidence.. (take BOKI off the bench!!!)

why would smith sit him out? it's the wrong time of the year to teach people lessons.

i could see smith bringing up the idea of mobley coming off of the bench as the 6th man, but i doubt "cuttino give me the ball some mo'bley" would argue to the point where he wouldn't play. ridiculous.

whoever's idea it was to sit out the game, it was wrong... period.

Smith is running the ship now.

Too bad he is running it into the ground.

maybe the quote from steve francis in the article that david alridge wrote had some truth to it. hmmmm... maybe that's why mobley was injured.

NJ ROCKET... I was looking for you at the game yesterday. I too was there. Here were my observations about the game last night.

This was the most packed Nets Game I've been too in a while. The only game that was more packed was Jordan/Wizards game vs. the Nets. I was at the Sixer-Nets game and Pacers-Nets game and even those weren't as busy as last night. 3 sections of Yao Fans on the upper deck behind the basket with signs and everything. Lots of Rocket fans everywhere. If the game was a little closer towards the end, this would almost be a home game. Rocket fans were waiting to erupt but it just didnt happen that night.

Hawkins had the UGLIEST SHOES EVER! Black and BLING BLING SILVER - I think the brand are Da Da's. You can see them all the way from Westchester!

I didn't see too many celebrities last night but definitely more suits than usual last night. After the game only Eddie Griffin, Glen Rice, T-Mo, came out to see people. A lot of people were hoping to see Yao come out.

Rockets were still in town today and held practice at the Nets facilities before heading out to Milwaukee tonight. Cuttino not playing was a pre-cautionary decision because they didnt want to lose Cat on the road too early before coming back to Houston. However, everyone seems to think he's going to be ok and play in Milwaukee.

I was told several Rocket players were tired coming into the game due to extra-curricular activities the night before by some players. I don't want to single people out but I think we all can tell who partied a little too much. No partying after last nights game for sure.

Interesting things I learned about Yao which, some of you may know already.
One...the shoes that Nike made for him - Dynasty...he doesn't wear anymore. I was told he hates them. They were too tight on the sides. He's wearing some other new Nike prototype shoe that's meant for another high profile athlete. Size 18...WOW! No plans yet on a new prototype shoe for Yao. As you all know he loves video games, but did you know he got hooked up by with EVERY SINGLE PS2 GAME ever made - I can only imagine what that is like. Yao doesn't go to any clubs especially strip clubs with a fear that his parents will find out. Great guy with a cool sense of humor.

Interesting speculation on Rudy T. Talks that he may not return as coach next year because of his condition. However, he will not quit because he has a nice size contract that will result in losing a butt load of money. So the only way he leaves if Les fires him or moves him to the front office. Interestingly enough, Les likes Jeff Van Gundy and if Rudy was to ever part as coach, he may be a replacement. However, Miami is now talking to Van Gundy.

Speaking of Les...now that his divorce is final, have you all noticed all the hot blondes he has sitting courtside?

It was great seeing all the Rocket and Yao fans out last night. Hope to see you next year NJ Rocket! BTW... I'll be at the RETRO JERSEY GAME SUNDAY! WOO HOOOOO!!!

That was the Minn game on the road last year or the year before right?

I have a hard time Cat would sit himself as long as he could stand as much as he loves to play.

    RRNY,

Ah man, you can't say "I'm not mentioning names" about who partied too much the night before. Moochie, Rice coming home,,, MoT (why not)....francis??? Come on!!! give us your scoop, and make your own thread. This is the best scoop of the last month, at least.

    Please baby
    Please baby
    baby baby please

We r e a l l y need to know who would party to much before such a crucial game!!

Why do you assume it was a benching? I think people are saying that Smith and the trainer probably made the call based on a swollen finger on his shooting hand.

come Rich!!! We need to know, and it should be it's own thread.

This is where you blame the coach, not the player. The coach is the one who makes the choice. Cat has been playing with the sprained finger for a while now! I remember he had it tapped together with another finger.

Is it possible that Cat didn't play because he was injured?
