it is a down year for the draft as someone mentioned...maybe not as bad as the kenyon martin year

but certainly wont be as good as last year.

there are some people to like but i think washington knows that it more than likely will not get a all-star type player this year especially if their pick isnt top 3.

makes sense to me that washington is fielding offers of seeing who they could possibly get.

i would not trade artest for it at this moment you have no idea who you may get and if the team is in "win now" mode than keeping artest for a future commodity that may or may not be as good as artest goes against all that you are trying to accomplish

This right here shows how little you know about the NBA. This trade is just short of salary requirements. Please tell me how you expect to make up the 20 million difference in salaries that exist.

Make a serious run? Unless after the trade deadline Mcgrady decides he was just joking about his knee and winds back the clock....heck, to last year.... and the rockets proceed to go on another 22 game winning streak.......it ain't happening in the playoffs. Best the Rockets can realistically go is the 2nd round, and that would be an improvement.

The worst thing the rockets can do is trade away all the young budding talent that produces for some over the hill pieces of crap and send us back to the Steve Francis days.

So you want to trade our superstar who is always getting injured but comes off the cap after next year, for another superstar who has been so injured he has basically missed two seasons but doesnt come off the books for five more years?

First rounder would be great but at this point you have no idea where it would be and this draft is not that deep. Other then Griffen and maybe Rubio, who is out there that would have a major impact?

Forgot to add Etan Thomas. My bad, no need to attack.

Agreed, the best way for a team like Washington to contend is to tank the rest of this season and hope to draft a young stud like Griffin. He comes cheap for the length of his rookie deal which is four years.

As for salary dump, they can trade for an expiring player who sucks or doesnt play like Lafrentz albeit at the cost of a player like Butler and fillers. Much better then dumping a potential top three pick.
