His ambition would be 10+ a year.

    His last big contract.

Do not know why people are sour at a 36 year old veteran.... it's not your money.

He has been a good boy in the past.

Athletes get overpaid, that's how it is.

Not the same thing. If you do the Harden-Simmons trade, then you aren’t competing this year. That means PJs extended contract is a liability, rather than currently being an asset.

PJ signed his deal with a different owner and different GM. He may believe he is owed something for whatever reason, but new ownership may not see it that way and it may not benefit the Rockets long term interests to give him what he wants if Harden isn’t committed.

We all agree that the Rockets should act in their own interests right? Right now they are. PJ will get an extension from Houston depending on Harden, not independent from Harden.

now if current ownership and our current GM made a promise, they should absolutely keep it, but it might be via extend and trade rather than staying here.

I can’t hate on PJ. That man is effort, heart , to no end. The only plus to cancer harden is he hangs out with (one) positive influence

Not only should pj get an extension he needs a life time role with this team. Winning attitudes are contagious

If Harden is traded, PJ's extended contract becomes a liability in what way? Monetarily? Cheap, cheap, cheap, cheap ::in chicken tone::

I mentioned earlier in the thread that the Suns were a rebuilding team that used Ariza's large salary to trade for Kelly Oubre, a young asset that fit their rebuild. Yes, if Harden is traded and we're rebuilding we don't really have a role for Tucker. But he'd still have value to us either as a mentor or for salary matching purposes in an Oubre-type trade. If we let PJ walk in free agency he'll have zero value to us. Unless you're handling Tilman's finances I can't see why you'd prefer the latter. If you see a benefit in letting him walk please let me know.

it was a joke. get over it. Lack of education? Yes, I know the dude has not done it forever and helps so many recover. But lets not act what Wiggins, Lloyd and Lucas did back in the day to derail a rockets season....is not worse than what House did in the bubble.

If Harden isn’t staying we are definitely trading PJ. As an asset, PJ is worth a lot more on a 1 year deal than a 3 or 4 year deal.

So tired of PJ, the man has been riding Harden's dick for a couple of years now but the fool is so god damn mediocre.
In all honesty, he is the worst starting PF in the league.

Has anyone in this thread advocated an extension for four years? The most I've seen anyone suggest is a two-year extension.

The deadline to sign a player to an extension is December 21st, ten days from now. If we don't sign PJ to an extension now he'll likely walk in free agency. The trade deadline is in March. Are you committed to trading PJ in the next three months? Because that'll likely be our last chance.

The dude is soon to be 36 years old and he was probably the worst starting "big man" in the playoffs last season.

All he does is whine. When Morey was here he used to bash him now he is calling the best GM in the Rockets history. Then there was his continues Paul bashing and now he loves Paul. Not even mentioning his man crush on Chase Budinger and Parsons

Overall DD seems like a great dude, but he needs to chill
