It doesn't matter since Orlando would have demanded him in the T-Mac trade.

    Deja vu.

You know, we should've traded for Micheal Jordan. Hindsight is 20/20.

Ward went to the finals, Sura nearly had three consecutive triple doubles(or so I heard). What had Hudson done to warrant the whole MLE? I'll take Ward and Sura over Hudson every day. You want three point shooting and fast feet against small pgs? You have Lue. You want a spark off the bench, depth at 1 and 2, post entry and defense against bigger pgs? You have Sura. You want heady veteran play plus good shooting? You have Ward. Pairing Hudson with Lue gives us a small backcourt and no insurance for injury. If Hudson starts, his one on one scoring ability is minimized with the presence of Yao,T-Mac, Howard and JJ. And Lue pretty much provides whatever else Hudson can provide. If Hudson comes off the bench, then his full MLE contract is too much for a backup at 1.

AG was injured and Hudson was in major injury last season. Pike forgot how to shoot for one season and he was still good at 36% three point shooting, better than Hudson's career average. Hudson forgot how to shoot in Orlando and it can happen again in Houston. Mentioning AG and Pike actually shows how big a risk Hudson can be.

Sorry, Pike shot 35% from beyond the arc last year, still two percent higher than Hudson's career average.

I wouldn't even trade JJ for Posey straight up.
Pike had 1 bad yr. Posey had 1 good yr. It's short-sighted to make that statement.
Not smart. Ward is cheap and solid.
Lue is Ok but no better.
I would say you are wrong about most everything. Of course it is just my opinion ... same as yours ... ;)

Hey RIET, I check in every now and agains, especially when I have a Ticket Forum thread going. Check it out. If you ever make it in to town this year, look me up and we'll see a game. Just don't wear you Longhorn helmet. ;)

Who says it wasn't our first choice. And who says it was about money from Brown's perspective or Les's. I think sometimes we have the tendency to think CD just blew it, without no regard to the individuality of the player or coach in question. Some teams simply have a better bargaining position than us. In Brown's case, he made his decision so freaking fast after the Rudy announcement that it seemed evident to me that that was his 1st choice, that he wanted to coach Detroit because they had the best chance to get to the Finals of any other team in the league, except LA (not winning it necessarily, but getting there). The Laker's position was not available, and I seriously doubt Indiana would want Brown back, or Brown wanting to go back. Detroit had the #2 pick, and just looked sweeter than NJ, who looked like they had no chance to win it once they got there.

With the #2 pick, and the Laker's position not being open, I think it's safe to say Brown chose the team who had the best chance to make the Finals (next to LA).

How can you say so confidently that CD blew that? That it wasn't more Brown's decision than ours.

Yes, Pike turned up worthless. I didn't have huge hope for him, but damn, give us Bullard shooting at least, dude. My hope at this point is he gets mad and gets his shot back enough for us to trade him. hehe

I don't know why you find it so important to call a minimum salary player trash; it's like calling the Wilks signing trash. Get off that one. It makes no sense that you use that as an example to bash CD. You are not right on this one. Griffin is not trash for a minimum salary player. Guys like Two Sandwiches are trash at that price. I'm not calling Wilks trash, and I'm not calling Griffin trash; otherwise, we need to say that every coach and GM in the entire league makes trash signing each year. What would be the point in saying that?

In the nearterm, JJ is a more perfect fit considering we need veteran leadership. That's my opinion. I don't really want to argue it, because it's more about chemistry that performance. We didn't need a running make to make Francis throw more alley oops to. You are right in that over time, it might be better to have a younger Posey, but that assumes vets like JJ won't be available every freaking year. My contention is role players are more available over time than we tend to think sometimes. I didn't want to lose Posey, but I did want some veteran players, and JJ was a perfect fit, imo.

But you know what I'm really going to say about Posey: We never should have traded Kenny. That's the big mistake. That is truly the big mistake. Posey isn't a mistake on that level. The *only* reason you don't think the Kenny trade was a mistake is because you agreed with it at the time. You're using selective judgement.

Basically, if you agreed with it, it wasn't a mistake. Only if you disagreed with it could it possibly be a mistake.

Don't bother arguing with me about Kenny. The trade was a mistake. A big freaking mistake.

    sigh
