33th haha. Yeah. Battier is a great defender and would be a great piece to a championship team which we are not this year. That being said Cunningham has been compared to Battier with more shot blocking ability and scoring ability. So really I think its a shrewd Morey move to save money and get a younger version of Battier who can get experience this year and save us money for free agency next year which is really important. In the future Portland fans will look at this trade the way we Rockets fans looked at the Rudy - Shane trade. You guys are all definitely the immediate satisfaction types, just have patience this would make our team better in the long run and this year doesn't matter and Shane is only getting older and he was injured a bit last year. He's a glue guy who fits around all-stars, of which we currently have none.

    Jebus.

I know we are looking to the future somewhat, but Battier for a 2nd rounder. Surely we can do better if we want to trade Battier, esp after the way he proved he is the closest thing to a 'Kobe stopper' in the NBA.

I don't know a thing about this Cunningham fellow granted, but I mean, come on, a 2nd rounder for Batman???

    Say it aint so.

Technically we didn't draft anybody. We had no picks and thus had no opportunity to draft Cunningham even if we wanted him. We bought the rights to players after other teams drafted them. Perhaps we wanted to buy to rights to Cunningham but Portland refused. I doubt it, but it's possible.

Rockets would've bought the picks and told the teams to draft who they wanted.

So, in your opinion, the Rockets did not talk to their trading partner at all before pick #32 was made for Jermain Taylor? They just wait until JT got picked and say... oh, we want this guy, lets pick up the phone and buy him.

And then AFTER Cunnningham got picked, they called Portland and got denied.

    MAKES SENSE!

You remember draft night 2006? We were waiting weeks for the other player and we still haven't got him yet.

We gave up the 8th pick for Battier for the 33th pick, which means we gave up 8th pick for a 33th pick ?

Maybe Portland throws in their 2010 first round pick?

That's not how it works. The teams agree to trade/sell the picks and then Morey tells them who to draft. To do it the way you describe it is ridiculous.

Question for Capologist... Will this trade create cap space for us this year? Along with me MLE or TE ... could/would this trade possibly create enough cap space for us to then go after someone like Sessions?

Oh Yeah!!! Defend this....33th. Lol...You make an excellent point. I think I've pretty much made my mind up that Morey definitely knows what he is doing. So I'm just ready to roll with it. :D
