a steal already? he hasn't played a single minute of NBA yet. In that case John Lucas is projected to be a star in the NBA
Throwing out some scenarios: 1. Battier → Przybilla + rights to Cunningham *Rockets essentially trade the 8th pick for Przybilla and the 33rd pick *This moves does not help the Rockets LT situation. 2a. Cook → rights to Cunningham *Portland under cap can absorb salary 2b. Battier → Przybilla *Two part trade, Rockets cut team salary 3a. Brooks/Lowry + Cook → rights to Patty Mills *Portland under cap can absorb salary 3b. Battier → Fernandez/Batum + Blake + Cunningham (signed) *Two part trade, Rockets cut even more team salary 3. Utah are matching Millsap's offer. Blazers are desperate, leaking info to make something happen.
I have got to believe that Shane is worth more than a second round draft pick!?! I know he is worth more at THIS time to THIS team than that. This deal straight up would make no sense. Atleast nort until we know how the McGrady injury will play out this year. I would have to think that we could make this trade at any time for Shane to someone looking to make the playoffs. IF this trade did indeed go down I would expect that something else major would be on its heels. I can't see this being true, and even what's more puzzling is the number of replies...yeah that includes mine...
If the Blazers can absorb his contract, it could makes some sense. Maybe the Rockets really like Cunningham, and they'd free up 7 million in cap space for the offseason. But they'd also give the Blazers a player they obviously covet, meaning they are basically writing off this season.
No one would deny the Rockets are rebuilding if they players traded for are relatively young and unproven. This might also be a thank you to Shane, perhaps a way to ensure he gets to play for a contender while he can still be a significant contributor.
I have a question: Do you guys seriously think that Morey would just give Shane away to his rival GM? Expect someone else coming from portland in that deal
It doesn't look too good at first glance but Blazers have the cap space to absorb salary. Rockets can potentially get under LT and make usuable salary space. The newly created salary space would allow the Rockets to take on more salary in another trade with another team.
Even if it's from a person with only 3 posts????.... and still no link??? the garm is becoming extremely generous with what you can get away with....
Well, clutch posted a photoshopped pic of Amare in a Rox uni, since that didn't happen, all bets are off
This deal actually makes a lot of sense for both teams... I don't think battier fits adelmans offense for 1... he's not tht great of a shooter... but a great lockerroom guy... we need a SG with Ariza playing SF and perhaps the rockets are looking to sign von with the extra $ they would be saving... also sign wilcox and the Rooks... Brooks/lowry Tmac/Wafer/taylor Ariza/Budinger/Tmac Scola/Landry/Hayes/Cunningham Wilcox/Anderson/Dorsey Looks like a run n gun line up... Thoughts?
Is some source reporting this r is this just someone heard from someone else. Just earlier today I said we could have had Dante and we took Taylor instead. So I like Dante but I wouldn't trade Battier for him straight up. No way Morey just said Battier and Scola will be the leaders of the team. And how they work so hard and the Rockets value hard work. We could of had Dante instead of Taylor. Morey also said that we would need 1 open roster spot because we might need it for a 2 for 1 trade. But when asked did they have a trade in mind he denied it aggressively.
I love it but I think you could get more for Battier...atleast Fernandez or Outlaw with Cunningham...Actually like Cunningham alot also dont think were signing Wilcox and probably not signing Wafer at this point.
(The Rockets have no interest in trading Battier, but for Aldridge, they would have to make that move, especially if they feel they can sign him to an extension or have some level of confidence they would keep him long term. -- Jonathan) http://blogs.chron.com/nba/2009/07/rockets_have_a_gday_land_their.html
Wait wait, just because you think Battier doesn't fit, we'll trade the premier peremeter defender in the league for a #33 pick rookie.
