Thank you, let the scorecard reflect the comments posted by the honorable JR.... We lose Bullard, Hakeem, Shandon, and 3-1st rounders. We gain a 2nd rounder, Rice, Griffin, and Morris. We keep Taylor, and hopefully Moochie. Still no reason to jump off a parking garage.
Doctor Robert - This really pains me to mention, but your "scorecard" is still incomplete without the pick we give up to get Morris. Apologies for being so "picky".
doc Robert, just to add to the plus side of the off-season, didn't we get a pick or two for hakeem (thought there was a 1st & 2nd round pick???). Makes the score card look even better My apologies as well
Would Washington want Moochie? I know they got Tyronne Lue, but he really isnt that good. With Jordan coming back wouldnt they also want to get rid of one of their two guards. Maybe a Williams+Moochie for Jahidi White+Richard Hamilton deal. REally just a daydream. If Moochie goes he goes...he is not nearly as vital to this team as Steve thinks.
I think its impossible for anyone to justify the contract Shandon recieved. However, I would have much rather seen Houston let Shandon go without compensation and leave the cap room free. Fill the whole at 3 with a combination of Griffin/T Mo/Walt/Langhi and you are no worse off. Granted Glen Rice helps fill seats over the next year or two, but he handicaps the ability of the Rockets to improve since once he comes off of the payroll in 3 years, Franchise and Griffin will likely have big contracts. As for moochie, $4M? see ya.
I would still love to know who the quote is from in that article. I never have trusted ESPN and I never will. I swear they are a bunch of followers that occasionally make up **** just to stoke a fire.
We got a 1st and a 2nd rounder for Hakeem and we gave up a 1st rounder for Morris. ....as a result we net one 2nd rounder which is what the scorecard reads. I was just scratching off the redundant stuff.
Will -- I just looked up "crank" in the dictionary, and didn't find anything too terribly offensive. So, thanks for what I think was a compliment. Manny -- use the freaking search function, sheesh. Maybe I've seemed negative the last few weeks or so, or whenever it was you became a Rocket fan, but I usually have more good to say than most, particularly when it comes to the Rocket front office. And I never once said I thought SA was worth that kind of money, quit jumping to conclusions. Mobley would never have started if Walt hadn't have sucked so bad. I fully believe that to be true. That doesn't mean SA is a better player than Mobley--he's not. It means it takes dire circumstances for Rudy to remove a starter. SA was having a bad year offensively after the death of his mom, but he was still bringing defense every night, and he wasn't counted on to score from the two spot--basically he was more or less doing his job. Walt, on the other hand, was being counted on to make shots--he simply wasn't doing it--sub-40 percent. Couple that with his lousy D, and there you have the reason Mobley became a starter. Walt was just that bad. Rudy just does not remove starters on a whim. I repeat, Rudy does not remove starters on a whim. Mobley beat out Walt to become a starter, not Shandon. The problem is keeping our own FAs are totally independent of the other moves we made to improve ourselves. Getting Griffin means we had a great off-season, basically no matter what. But outside of that, you're basically trading all of our FAs save Taylor, for Glen Rice. What's a little scary is that New Jersey contacted us about Griffin and told us who they wanted. What would our off-season look like if they hadn't? But a trade is a trade, no matter how it happens. The Rockets scored big with the Francis trade, and now Griffin--it can't have been a fluke...right?
New Jersey contacted us because they probably received 18 phone calls from Rudy and CD prior to draft day making trade proposals to get their pick. I can't believe you are accusing Rockets management of not being aggressive. They could probably be considered the MOST aggressive management in the NBA. If you want to look at just the FA scorecard we are still not doing badly. It would look like this: We gain a 1st rounder, a 2nd rounder, and Rice. We lose Hakeem, and Shandon. I'm not including Bull in there because there is only 12 spots on the roster and Rudy and CD believed that he wasn't top 12 material anymore. I like Bull, but I would have to agree with letting him go. You can rest assured that there weren't any killer offers out there that they didn't see or pursue for Matt. I would say it was a partial retirement, not a FA loss. I would find it hard to believe that we won't come out of the Moochie situation without a competent backup PG. He may not have an afro, but...
I still find it hard to believe that the 2nd best player on the team would still be coming off the bench so guys like Walt and Shandon can be happy and have their egos stroked because they are in the starting line-up. That's not Rudy removing starters on a whim, that's Rudy using common sense. The Rockets aren't like the '60's Celtics where they are only 10 teams or so and Mobley is their "John Havlicek". What I'm trying to get at is that IMO, Mobley was bound to be a starter sooner or later because Rudy wanted to put the best team out there that had a chance to win. Having Mobley come off the bench every game and play 30 something minutes was a cute and novel thing, but in reality it was something that would never last no matter who in the starting line-up was playing bad.
manny, i believe in your sig, eddie johnson is supposed to be ervin johnson, just trying to help also mobley wasnt starting because guys got outplayed, truth is he got recognized as the 2nd wheel on the team and consequently deserved to start
That was a quote from Fobinator aka "The Buck Troll". He's mentioned in the bottom of the sig. Everybody except for him knows that it's Ervin Johnson and not Eddie Johnson. That's what made it so funny and why I decided to use it as my sig. Trust me, I would not use something for my sig that was said by me and was wrong. However, I'll gladly use something that was said incorrectly by someone else!!
i thought that mightve happened, and all i have to say about him is all his engines arent working right, lol, that shows you how much he knows about his own team all right
They already have a player in Chris Whitney who is somewhat similar to Moochie and is signed up for the next couple of years for less than Moochie wants. I doubt they'd be intrested in Moochie.
