No need for Snow and his contract. Sura and Ward/Barrett can handle the job for a while, Barry gives us a solid backup for TMac.
Cavs aren't going to give up Gooden or Jackson in a deal just to unload Snow's contract, particularly for Howard or Taylor. They got Gooden to serve as a rebounder in place of Boozer; they don't need scoring. Howard and MoT don't fit that bill at all. Gooden may be flawed, but most of those flaws are being hidden in Silas' system. Silas is also probably the perfect coach for Gooden (a fatherly type, not one to yell too much), while JVG is probably the further from that. Gooden is very sensitive and would likely fail in the Rockets' system. Plus, he's a poor defender; stats last year showed that whenever Gooden was guarding someone, they would score about 75% of the time. Ridiculous. Trust me in saying that you all don't want him -- nor would Cleveland make him available.
well he may not be available and he may not be a good defender but have you seen the 4 guys that we call power forwards on this team? the rocket's would take him.
LOL! We are shopping everyone eh? Put thumb on Tmac, put thumb on Yao and here is our roster. Anyone want a piece? As per Snow. No WAY would I touch him and his contract. The ONLY way I think about him is if we move a SIMILAR contract in Juwan Howard. Basically trading trash for trash to teams looking for better fits.
I see what JVG is trying to do here. Shorten the rotation = get rid of players who don't fit Players who don't fit = Mo Taylor, Juwann Howard, Clarence Weatherspoon Players who might not = Boki Nachbar, Ryan Bowen, Charlie Ward I think we should be prepared for a lot of Lue/Barry trades where we basically take on players of equivalent/lesser ability, but who won't cause problems on the team by complaining about playing time.
Half-court offense = needs jumpshooters Snow's brickiness has been extreme since the NBA went to a zone defense which allows the opposing point guard to not even guard his man.
that is exactly what I was thinking - get it down to where you ONLY have 8-9 guys that should be in the rotation Lue thinks he should start. JVG: fine Lue go start for Atlanta and never win again - well take a 18 min a night role player (with expiring contract!) Mo T wants more minutes - JVG: OK Mo, you go to to the Nets for draft picks - then we have Howard and his role player backups (spoon for rebs or Pagde for shooting)
They keep talking about us being "too deep". What a ridiculous statement --- what that means is that we have alot of mediocre talent and JVG can't figure out which set of mediocre talent works the best together. It's impossible to be "too deep". If in fact we were a team overloaded w/ quality starters making trades to fit needs would be easy. We are over stocked with mediocrity.
I was about to post the same thing. I'd be happy to take Snow's contract off their hands if they took one of our PFs and gave us Gooden. Who knows?
next time Van Gundy is on 610 someone should call in and ask him what he thinks about people describing a player as "Jeff Van Gundy Type" player. I bet we'd get a good, very dry response. More than any other coach in the league, I hear JVG-type. You never hear Phil Jackson-type or Don Nelson-type or Maurice Cheeks-type used to describe a player. What does this say about our coach? Fair or unfair?
You know, the trading of Lue could mean that we really are trying to get Eric Snow... I guess i would only get him if we get rid of one of our PFs... I would do - Mo Taylor plus a second round pick for Eric Snow + Desagana Diop
