Technically the first clip is "American Football" or "Gridiron Football" and the latter is "Football". The term "soccer" is actually a version of the British term "assoc" for "Association Football" to separate it from "Rugby Football". At some point, most Americans started insisting American Football was just Football and actual Football was Soccer. That said, us Americans tend to try hard to be different, often for the sake of it to the point where it is unproductive to do so. Not using a metric system like the rest of the world is a great example of this.
