Im injury prone, so the guy behind me will get lots of playing time. I'll have to make sure it's somebody good like Derrick Rose.

    he didn't say starting lineup.

Just put me on 2008 Rockets roster and I'll be on the inactive list for the whole season.

    Hmm - current players.

    PG - Derrick Rose
SG - me in my prime
    SF - Lebron James
    PF - Blake Griffin
    C - Dwight Howard

...it would be a stretch though for 50 wins. I'm 6'1" but in my heavy playing days in my late 20s I was running with former division 1 guys and guys who played in Asia/Europe/Latin America. I'm not great offensively but I can hit open shots, am a good passer, and in my prime I was a pretty decent defender against guys 3 or 4 inches taller than me because I have fairly good bball IQ, decent speed(but not great quickness), and am strong(I have an Artest type frame). That being said, the quick change up speed types of guys who don't let you get close enough to put a body on them gave me fits....and of course now my knees are pretty much shot now from carrying too much weight during all that playing so I'm a complete mess on a basketball court now. Still in my prime, I'm not sure if a team with me on it could win 50 games - even if it had every other star on it. People don't realize just how fast the NBA game is. I suppose if the bench was also full of star players then it would be possible because you wouldn't be going up against the Durants/Lebrons/Kobes because they would be on your team. This almost sounds like the scenario of the old Olympic teams with their token one or two college guys.

    This thread makes me wonder...

What does it take to get to the NBA?

Funny story remember Maciej Lampe? (whom I played soccer with as a kid in the swedish suburbs) and Damir Markota (played a couple of seasons for the Bucks) played on the same basketball team called Polisen a team from Stockholm.

What is funny about this is that on that swedish team there was a third player who had alot more talent than those two guys. Lampe and Markota are both very tall with a shooting touch and the third mroe talented guy who never made it is something like 6'0 I think.

So my question for you is: If you are around 6'8 and a little shooting touch does that take you to the NBA??

    I don't need a team, I can win 50 games by myself.

    Me
    Kobe
    Lebron
    Griffin
    Howard

Lebron can take the ball up for me, I'll just set picks and try to nail open jumpers. On defense, I'll just take charges. I'm thin ans short, so it be easy to flop.

Put me on any team that has won 50 games, and I guarantee they'll stay at 50.

....I'm not sure if 6'8" does(it definitely gets you a college scholarship - at least it did for one guy in my high school who otherwise sucked) but in general the less skills are required the taller/bigger you are. 6'0" NBA guys have to have at least a couple of elite skills(for AB it's speed and shooting). NBA big men don't have to have any skills except size (which isn't a skill). At 6'8", I would assume you would need to have more than just a little touch - you would need to be Steve Novak automatic to make it in the NBA and even then your sitting on a bench at that size unless you bring something else elite to the table.

If any of you think you can guard an NBA player you're dreaming. There'd be no way you could stay in front of them or hold your own no matter how much they suck or how much you tear it up in the rec leagues.
