How can you be impress objectivity upon someone that has lived it his entire life. I would not be as rude to tell you shut up, or call you an ass(which is pretty funny). I respect you as a poster and regard you opinion as valuable, but in terms of this subject matter, I am a living example.

I have many stories of how I have been mistreated, name-called and almost harmed physically because of my race. I travel all over America and meet many people, and believe it or not, race is a prevalent issue and is a driving force in this country. I don't dwell on it, but I recognize it.

and Texx, do you have 1 original idea, come on I challenge you to hop off peoples jocks and make one valid point. Why are you even here?

    You sir are an arse.

You mean the same way I have felt uncomfortable when seeing a group of Bubbas leaving the Texas Hall of Fame in Bryan, TX?

Oh this is PRICELESS!!!! You are assumed to be a racist...but if you've dated somebody of a different race we'll give you a pass. That is the dumbest thing I have EVER seen posted here or anywhere else.

Same thing as above...but NOW you have to have a bi-racial child in your family and drag them with you everywhere you go like a badge proving that you aren't a racist.

For the record...3. My wife's uncle married a black woman and they had 3 lovely daughters.

Well then prepare to be insulted. That's right...I deny...CATEGORICALLY your asserion that I am a racist because I'm white. So I'm insulting you. You have made this very personal...so I'll insult you like this all damn day long. You are a fool.

My parents wouldn't care, as long as I was happy. Although, I think culturally-speaking, an Asian girl may be a "better fit." But love supercedes all of that.

I've met plenty of black girls I would date. I've met plenty of white/Asian girls I would date, but that doesn't mean I asked them out. My degree of cowardice with regards to women have been documented here. Also, I have not been around alot of black girls. That's not a crime, but I don't think I'm obligated to meet/date a black girl to prove I'm not racist.

I think you get a "not racist" stamp on your forehead by the Council of Racism.

I never denied the fact that racism is a prevalent issue and a driving force in the US (and, unfortunately, practically everywhere in the world). The thread started out about the OJ case and I just stated that I am pissed off that he got off because he was rich and his lawyers (white and black) managed to use his race to get him out.

With regards to objectivity, I would have thought that it could be interesting to hear the perspective of someone who is neither white nor black and not even American, so that his view cannot be labelled as interest-driven or self-serving. I also think that a person with an average intellect and some curiosity can get a pretty good impression of the state of race relationships in the USA within a year of living there, especially living in the area of Houston where I lived.

And by the way, the notion of "You have not been here long enough to really talk about it" unfortunately reminds me a little bit of the attitude of some of the right-wing politicians in European countries... do you realize you are, to some extent, trying to exclude someone because he does not have the same background as you do? How would you label that? :)

Oh, and about the girl question, I also thought that was funny.

If anyone here has any beautiful sisters, black, white, yellow, purple, I would gladly do ANYTHING THEY WANT ME TO with them to prove that I am not racist :D.

Will someone please find the ****ing post where I called someone a racist? What I said was that to say that skin color means nothing is a lie. I still stand by that.

I asked gr8-1 some personal questions that I thought would prove my point to him. Probably not the right thing to do on a public board, but hindsight is 20/20. I didn't sit down with a panel and devise some 100% "racism test" that everyone could take. Sorry gr8-1.

    Refman,
Perhaps if you try a little harder you can twist my words a little more or maybe even put one more word in my mouth. Very disapointing.

You could be right, I may be crazy but it just may be a lunatic you're looking for...

I see it like this, we can sit around all day and discuss what's wrong with the Rockets, what they can do differently and what's wrong with the organization, but the Rockets are the only ones who really know whats really happening because they live it everyday.

I am a black-american everyday of my life, I live here and I have for 30 plus years. For anyone outside of that to suggest that I must feel a certain way with respect to my struggles, rubs me the wrong way.

    agree to disagree?

Try again Texx come on man you can do it!

you said we were lying to ourselves if the fact that OJ killed white people upset us more...that the race of the victims made it worse. you implied that it was in our very nature. to that i would respectfully disagree...

    No.

Because I do not think that I suggested how YOU must feel about anything, much less about struggles I was not even aware of, but that is what you imply.

I merely stated how I felt about it and I stated that I had a hard time understanding why so many black Americans celebrated that O.J. was set free.

So I cannot agree to disagree because I don't even think I made any statement about the matters you see me disagreeing with.

How else are people supposed to take the drivel you were dishing out in your post? You basically said:

"Anybody who says race doesn't matter is lying. How many interracial relationships have you been in? How many biracial kids are in your family."

Ummm...ok...no...you weren't suggesting that people are inherently racist.

So what about the beautiful sisters, why hasn't anyone gotten back to me yet.

My offer is still standing. I'll be nice to them! :D

my take has always been that I have no right to be "pissed." Only the victims do. The rest of it is about fair/unfair justice, as it relates to me. As justice relates to me, there is a lot more harm done by corrupt/ignorant cops than smart criminal defense lawyers with rich clients. So if they made any mistakes in warrantless searches or chain of custody of evidence, then they are wrong and have to learn to get it right.

    SJC,

I think it has to do with the fact that some people do not want an objective perspective. As long as they can label people and whatever they say "Yes, he says this because he is one of them", it makes it easier for them because they always have something to retreat to.

You have to see how it works both ways. You cannot necessarily claim an "objective perspective." It is also something to retreat to, as you say.

I don't know really where all the discussion is going, but objectivity about race issues is very difficult to achieve...much more so than the amount of times people claim it. Objectivity is dependent upon knowing both sides of the issue, and with race, it very often involves living in the other race's shoes for awhile.

In a very general sense, not targeting any other poster, what AB is saying, imo, is that many people are objective with the limited knowledge they have on the subject. If someone says that you don't have enough knowledge on the subject to have an informed opinion, you have to consider the possibility that you are uninformed, thus can't really be objective, right?

    Htownhero,

I think this is a good example post of where you called many people racist, in fact all white people. You also implied that anyone who feels uncomfortable around those who dress like 'bangers and thugs, anyone who has never been in an interracial relationship, and anyone without bi-racial children in their family is a racist as well. Maybe some of us just don't care about race as much as you. Maybe some of us just think everyone should be viewed not by the color of their skin, but by their actions.

    Back to the original question....

The jury did the right thing based on the evidence and did not base the decision on specutlation. I am not pissed... are you?

    I considered that possibility...

...and came to the unanimous conclusion to reject it :D.

I think MLK said content of their character, but that takes a little to long in some situations, eg. said corn-rowed punks pull out a gun, I am not waiting around to see if they are just trying to inform me of GLOCK's high quality and low, low prices.
