Taco Milagro on Kirby 1308 Cantina on Montrose - Where Sabor used to be. Run by the El Tiempo/Ninfas group, very good food and atmosphere
Very good atmosphere and eye candy there. The one on 249 is the polar opposite. Terrible atmosphere and the food isn't much better.
Ruggles (probably been five years since I've been there, but I hear they're still great), Shade in the Heights, Artista at Hobby Center, Niko Niko's (not fancy, but not bad either), Cafe Rabelais is supposed to have outside dining, but I can't say for sure. And there's always Daily Review I haven't been to the new location, but if you would have said Sunday instead of Saturday, I would have recommended Indika.
Right down the street from Baba Yega. It's a historic Houston acoustic music venue. Townes Van Zandt and Lightnin Hopkins used to play there. Lyle Lovett got his start there. Anderson Fair - 2007 Grant Baba Yega - 2607 Grant
Cafe Pronto? (I think that's it's name - it serves Italian food) on Montrose. Jax Grill, Cyclone Anayas, Mission Burrito all on Shephard. Molina's and El Tiempo on Washington. Cafe Montrose has a few tables outside. It's on Westheimer. Chuy's on Westheimer...
It is the little alley way, but I don't think we're all sure on your intentions. Normally, when I think about dining on a patio on a Saturday, it is with a bunch of friends and there is alcohol involved. You are looking for something a bit nicer, so my assumption is that there is a woman involved. Quiet and intimate would be more the order there, and Shade would probably fit that bill.
Thought of another. I actually haven't been there, but it is high on my list; and I don't even know if they are open on Saturday for lunch, but the chef/owner has made one of the best meals I've had in Houston, and I've been told they have outdoor seating. http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/dining/cook/3787693.html
You're going to laugh, but Market square -next to Warren's on Travis has a nice little patio. Good hamburgers. I like Mia Bella too. Farago's on Gray -across from Cyclone Anayas has a nice patio. My favorite is BackStreet-Shepherd near Dallas-good call Buck!
yes, those are two classics that I was forgetting. Pole, you're too smart. Yes there is a women involved. Not the milf, she's off the board for now. She decommissioned herself for reasons unknown. lol basically, she is like a stray cat you see under a house and try to coax her out. Just when you think you have her, she darts back under the house. This one I met randomly last Saturday. I called her after all you guys suggestions and she came out first with Cafe Adobe. I think the idea of 'ritas on a first date...lunch date...is fine by me. She's born/raised Houstonian living in the Heights. I've never been much for Cafe Adobe, but I certainly like a women will make the choice for us. phew. That was easy.
did the chef/owner serve you "one of the best meals I've had in houston" at Dolce Vita or at Mark's? anyhow, you are so on mark that you made me laugh. The next date is at Mark's. lol She doesn't know that yet. And she said, "I don't like expensive restaurants, all that money...it makes me mad." cool. a cheap date. except for the fact she is dating a foodie. We are going to Mark's. She just doesn't know it, yet.
