You sure love talking out of your ass. You sure as hell have no basis for such an assumption after 27 games.
Awesome, great work. As for the rest, I call it like I see it......and the fact that with all these injuries he is not even in the conversation. I am not saying he is a finished product, but he is not even close to being NBA ready, especially on a team like the Rockets that has a bunch of high BBall IQ players. What was that Taylor quote when Battier was trying to explain how to play angles on defense...oh yeah, something like "I am not a thinker".... Yeah, he is going to last long..... DD
Von Wafer was not a thinker either yet you think he has some untapped potential. Please explain yourself.
I think Wafer had elite athleticism, even by NBA standards and could blow by almost every SG in the league with his first step. Taylor does not have that quickness, he is not close to the player Von is.... I think Von does one thing very well....score the ball.....and there is room for that on any NBA team...... I think Taylor needs a LOT of seasoning to reach his potential. Neither is a finished product, but Von is a lot further along than Taylor. DD
Hmm, well lets see DD, Von has been in the league for what, 4 seasons, and Taylor is only a rookie you really think you could make such an assumption. Of course Von Wafer is farther along considering that he has had time to get acclimated to this league. Give Taylor time. Look at what you said about Budinger earlier this summer and you ended up getting burned.
I didn't get burned by anything, I was mad because we had not traded McGrady and gotten into the first round of the draft. I had no idea about Chase or Taylor.......once I saw them, first in the SL, then in the preseason, I drew my conclusions. Taylor is not close to ready...and if they didn't have to have 12 players active every night, he would already be in the D-league with Dorsey. And Von is further along because of his experience.....YES.......totally agree.... DD
What are you basing your information on? Taylor has amazing athletism as well, and we have yet to see how dangerous he can be behind the 3pt line. Von was originally considered to have no chance of making our roster, until his 3 point shot came alive. I'm not saying Taylor is a better player than Wafer, but I rather take a player who respects the coach and the team than a player who yells at the coach for not getting playing time. Not to mention, this exact same player gets kicked off his new team for refusing to adapt to a new philosophy. Don't you think it's a little hypocritical when you scrutinize McGrady for his behavior and his effects on the growth of our players when Von Wafer is equally as bad or worse?
I remember you watching Budinger first game (SL) and saying you weren't impressed, if I could search threads I would.
You remember incorrectly. My own two eyes and the eyes of my peeps. Von got mad because he wanted to play, and made a mistake, he did not compound that mistake by going to the media and whining, there is a massive difference between how Von handles his business and TMac handles his... At least to me. Look, whatever, let's see if he plays....if he doesn't, especially now with the team short on wings, it will tell us a lot. DD
Von compounded that mistake by being a dumb player. It's interesting that even with his amazing scoring potential the Rockets did not bring him back. They instead drafted players who would take his position instead. I'm not worried about Taylor not playing, it doesn't really let anyone know anything except for the fact that like you said he isn't ready, which shouldn't be some big surprise considering he is a rookie. I think I'd give him another year before passing judgment. He is a second rounder so I don't really expect much from him anyways, but I will reserve opinion till next year.
I don't want to go too deep into this. First of all, I do recall your first comments on Budinger, and I'm sure many other posters do too. Yes, Von Wafer did not whine to the media, but he brought the exact same attitude to his new team. Guess where that got him? You're right, there is a huge difference between how Von handles his business and how McGrady handles his. Von made the exact same mistake in his new team. Von also refused to adapt to a new philosophy in his new team (sound familiar?), and we all know how that ended up. As for McGrady, he is at least trying to adapt to this current team's philosophy, and he at least attempts to get on the same as the organization. The difference between the 2? McGrady has a chance for redemption, earning himself limited minutes in the game. Von on the other hand, blacklisted himself after making a name for himself and further destroyed his own reputation by being waived in his team.
1. Wrong - he was not blacklisted, he got a better contract offer. Morey even said the team had a number where they were comfortable in getting Von back, also, Adelman played him the next game, it was way overblown on this BBS. Meh....why bother....... DD
Yep, I agree. You have had a mancrush on Wafer for the longest and most us aren't all that high on him. No point of keeping this going.
