Based on this single post, you could qualify to get promoted to the next membership status, despite your stubborn lurk mode.

I haven't posted anything since the injury...Man, it took me a couple of days of sulking but all I can say is "Fock"...Such a devastating thing to happen...I think he'll bounce back and its hard to see us doing nothing but stink it up until one of the stars goes back on the court...

I think Yao will be fine once he comes back...I think it'll take the sometime to get in sync again...

I'm sure the knee injury is not the only injury Yao is nursing. Probably has tons of bruises and cuts all over his body. The extended layoff will bring back a rejuvenated Yao with all his injuries healed. Yao is gonna kick ass when he gets back. 28/12/3. You can take that to the bank.

When I heard that Yao was injured and then that it was a broken leg, my first thought was "Awww, man! This could be hard on the Rockets!" The second thought, "That is a BIG leg to break... I can't imagine... "

hey, he's injury might be a good thing for him. Yao hasn't had much rest since he had to play in the world championships. The timing and the length of the injury is similar to last year's. And last year, he came back a beast. This injury will give him much rest and he will be a monster when it comes to the playoffs. :) :) :)

Had the same injury on the right leg during a soccer game about 10 years ago, it felt like be shot by a bullet (not that I had any experience with it, just felt that way, strangely). The Dr. put a cast on for 4 weeks, then on clutch for another two weeks.

One thing I do need to mention is that even the Dr insisted that it would heal itself, no consequence left, I just didn't feel right with that leg for quite some time. I guess it's due to psychological reason.

I'm not a doctor. I thought about it, though.

I love anatomy and all medical applications. I'm going to school right now for radiologic technology, but eventually, I plan on becoming a Radiologist Assistant.

Can someone help me out on this:

From my understanding, yao is out minimun 6 weeks due to the knee fracture which dont require any surgeries to heal. But i also read it, if his knee wont heal by itself then surgery is required which will cause complications to yao's knee in the future, correct me if i m wrong.

My question is, how long will we find out whether his knee will heal itself? 1 week? 2 week? or at the sixth week???

If Yao needs surgery, he it would probably cause complications in the form of arthritis in the future. As far as what point we would find out whether or not he needs surgery, that's hard to say. If at some point during his rehab, something isn't healing right, that's when they'd do surgery. if he reinjures it or something, he would need surgery.

A fracture at an area of major weight bearing and tension, in a professional athlete weighing over 300 lbs, and who needs to run and jump and pivot (causing even greater stress in the area) is still a concern.

If what you said was true, there would be little long-term morbidity associated with tibial plateau fractures, yet there are patients who are unable to run or even walk comfortably a year after sustaining such an injury.
Maybe these cases were associated with displaced fractures or ligament/ meniscal injury? I don't know.

Granted Yao's fracture is non-displaced, but still. In addition, its known that patients with gigantism like Yao have somewhat more brittle bones than normal. Will this affect his course post-fracture? I don't know.

Again, this is out of my areas of expertise, but I worry for Yao cuz I care. 6 weeks sounds too short in my opinion.

this comment should shut up those trade-yao-after-bone-injury posts, and thanks for your sketchy analysis, which makes me feeling much better in the new year than past christmas.

So it's his leg bone and not his knee?

I would think that is great news.
