I can see this in Chron's headline

"Yao suffered yet another setback in his recovery according to the Rocket's trainner Keith Jones. As for the timetable for Yao to return to the lineup, Keith said it's indefinite. He also did not rule out the possibilty of Yao's having a surgery."

You and Sam Fisher are bumming me out. Yao might be back well before the playoffs and Tmac may be back in a week or two. This team is a different team than last years team, Head is a much better player and we have Battier who just dropped 28 points in the Clipper game and might be our third option. Bonzi is also talking the talk about making up the points scored by Yao and can play much better than he has played.

In 2004 we fought back from a losing record to finish with a 50+ win season, we have a winning record now so why can't we fight back from these injuries and finish with a 50 win season. Lets wait a few weeks until we hear more about Yao's recovery before mailing in the season.

    Hey Guys,
I am sorry if these thoughts were already echoed previously. Maybe it is the holiday cheer or too much egg nog but I actually think that this could turn out to be a positive thing for the Rockets (assuming that Yao returns heathly). Something that concerned me which Bonzi echoed was the team was that the teams is too one dimesional. 90% of the plays are run out of the post. This is understandable with a monster like Yao. I hope this allows the Rockets to be able to mix up the offense a little and for Van Gundy to be forced to be able to see what our rookies can do and begin to trust them ala Luther of last season.

I always like the teams who had a two styles of play and could do them both well. Dallas and San Antonio can run and gun and play the half court game. Hopefully, Van Gundy writes some plays for Bonzi and the Baby Rockets (Lucas, VSpan, Novak) how cool was the Laker game to watch them ball!

Merry Christmas Cluctchfans!! Pray we don't rush our superstars back and that our other stars begin to shine!

I was also going to ask what about Badiane? I also like the trade for Stephen Hunter. I like having an athelic 4/5 big who can run with the 2nd team.

We have already been down this road, last year, and JVG still has only 1 style of play and 90% of the plays are still going through Yao.

Nobody deserved an injury free year more than Yao. After all the bashing he has taken from the ESPN/TNT talking heads, he was in perfect position to ram those words down his critics' throats. In my opinion he already had. But I like what JVG preaches. Don't give in, never think that you can't win. Just like Jimmy V. The time for Yao's return seems to be in some doubt. If the estimates of only 6 weeks hold true, then I wouldn't want to be facing the Rocks in the first round.

THE WORST PART IS is that this injury was 100% avoidable, and had nothing to do with yao being weak or injury prone...god that pisses me off

    ---------------YAO----------------
    ------------------------------ ---

    Anyone confirm this please?

What choice does he have now? I think that if this squad can prove themselves than maybe his gut will go with it when Yao is having an off night or when he feels like he should rest Yao (when currently he doesn't fearing the game will slip).

First thank everybody to my support and the care, I now am lying down in the hospital exclusive hospital bed give everybody the message. At that time I all not clear is how has a matter fallen on the entire person down, only felt knee unusual hurting with is uncomfortable. By now my team medicine taught the accomplished Daoist priest anxiously to run a vigor to say to me that, YAO, do not move! Do not move! But I really good hurt. I thought me, could the bone fracture? When Wells with teaches the accomplished Daoist priest to help up me, I rejoice also may walk. The team medicine has given me in the restroom simple processing but the effect all is not very good, by now my father and leaf Li came. Our President also came. "The wound is heavy? Where sore fierce?" I said that, Is all right, other worries me. On crossed a difference not mostly hour I on to hold like this by the team medicine boarded the hospital. When I hear to diagnose and needs to rest six week-long times for the right and wrong shifting right shinbone bone split I the mood to be a little uncomfortable. My real hope next may go on stage participates the competition, moreover with TM in the same place, the feeling which fights side-by-side.

I HAVE NEVER SEEN YAO'S PAIN LIKE THAT! CLUTCHING HIS KNEE, SHOUTING PAINFULLY AND FOAMING CEASELESSLY, OH, GOD, I'M VERY NERVOUS! I HOPE THAT WAS JUST A COLLISION AND HAD NO SERIOUS INFLUENCE. BUT, SEVERAL MINUTES LATER, HE COULDN'T COME BACK TO THE COURT. AND FROM THEN, I HAD NO MOOD TO WATCH THE GAME AND I JUST SAW SOME AUDIENCES NAPPING. GOD BLESS YOU,YAO! PLEASE COME BACK AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

ONCE I EXPECTED THAT HOUSTON ROCKETS WOULD STEP INTO PLAYOFF AT A HIGH LIST. EVEN WHEN T-MAC WAS OUT BECAUSE OF BACK SPASM,I STILL DIDN'T CHANGE MY EXPECTION JUST BECAUSE OF YAO! BUT NOW, RUSHING INTO PLAYOFF SEEMS DIFFICULT.

GOOD NEWS IS THAT YAO WILL MISS JUST 19 GAMES. AFTER SIX WEEKS, I BELIEVE THAT A MORE HUGE GUY WILL BE ON SPOT AND WILL TAKE HOUSTON ANOTHER FLY! ABSOLUTELY!!!

I just dont see how the lineup with Tmac/Battier/Bonzi/Head/Alston/Howard can beat other teams. I wish JVG could prove me wrong, I want to believe too. You mentioned 2004, which bears no resemblence of this year. Maybe 2005 is a little closer. Remind you Tmac hurt his back when just try to contest a shot this year, he wasnt even doing half of the stuff he was doing before. It is over. 6 week is on cast, right? Yao cant just run and gun right after the cast is removed. You have to add another 3 to 4 weeks conditioning to do. How is that going to be well before the season over. And we are talking about the best case scenario.

    Here you're.

But IMHO, that could be a fake post.

    • Yao Ming's official website (Chinese one) is hosted on sohu.com, and not sina.com.
    • This message got repeated multiple times on that sina.com forum (if you click onto the sina.com web link and check those many pages). That looked fishy.
    • There is nothing new there in the whole post, i.e. those were all known facts, and anyone can easily write something up like that
    • Most important of all, Yao Ming knew there is no return dates yet for TMAC's return, and therefore what he said he wished to play alongside TMAC immediately the day after was meaningless.
