Anyone care to calculate the return on investment from the US highway system? Basic science and research? People (education, child care, development)? These are the things we all can benefit from.

And the constituents will believe it because the democrats will forget to shove this down people's throats in a few months.

That’s what they did post 2008…. Claim austerity but still use the federal money to plug budget deficits.
I have no doubt there will be a parade of Republican members of Congress showing up to groundbreakings or touting projects in their districts being paid for by this bill. The DCC and their electoral opponents should be pushing hard that they voted against the bill.
Somebody needs to tell these politicians that if they like any aspect of the bill, then they must support it all.
There is nothing wrong with not supporting a bill. Just don't portray yourself as being for it when you're against it. It's like John Kerry argument regarding his vote to authorize force in Iraq.
