Just filled up in Toronto, it came out to around $6.00 per gallon. In Vancouver its closer to $7.00. You should all consider yourselves lucky. Outside of countries that openly subsidize fuel prices, the US is one of the cheapest places to buy gas.

They won't be too high until people start using alternative energy options for their automobiles.

Why the hell would anybody be asking if gas prices are too high?

If she said yes then what?

I would also like to see what else she said but she did beat around the question for no real reason.

If this kind of thing means something to that audience, good grief and to top it off she is the interior secretary, so why should she be accountable?

You guys are always looking for something or someone to be upset with or about.

Yeah, she had to thread the needle since the positions are all over the place. I don't think she did bad because it wasn't a callous soundbyte to a difficult question over accountability...

As for things they can control, they blew their load with the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. That will have to be filled up when trading prices for oil drop.

Sadly, the poor are the most impacted by this runaway inflation. My housekeeping staff gets about $100 a person for their daily efforts. Of course they have a long drive to get to my house. They are making the same $100/day as before, but now the higher cost of gas and food eats into what they can actually pocket. It's a pity. And to top it off, because the stock market is down and my portfolio has suffered paper losses, I have no choice but to ask them to work for $80/day. It's a vicious circle.

    Related:

Seems there are three things affecting oil production.

Shortage of supplies like sand and steel
    Shortage of workers
    Investors still have cold feet

Still looking for the problem with letting oil companies drill on lands managed by the Dept of the Interior. Got a ref for that?

just responding to @jiggyfly , who seemed incredulous that anyone would be asking the Secretary of the Interior a question about gasoline prices. No more, no less.

For clarity, they EACH receive $100/day. That's per person. And in US Dollars.

Again, what does that have to do with current gas prices?

Do you actually think drilling on that land would affect gas prices in the next 2 to 3 years?

So again what does high gas prices have to do with this?

Are you that ignorant about how long it takes to get that gas out of the ground and how gas is actually distributed and priced?
