Just jumping in, With very little mention of any reason unleaded gas has gone from 3.37 a gallon maybe 2 months ago to 3.04 here in NY state. Has anyone else noticed a pretty substantial decrease down in Texas or other parts of the country??
Could US port strike, by 45,000 dock workers, be the ‘October surprise’ that stoke up inflation ? https://www.aljazeera.com/economy/2...-october-surprise-that-trips-up-kamala-harris
Can the profiteers be humble and just adjust their pay to the cost of living? Can they just do that without jacking up prices.
Here in Albany NY, there are so many independent pizza places that prices remain pretty minimal due to competition. I also pick my pizza up on the way home from work to avoid the 1,000-dollar delivery fees by the Hub of the Grub.
Dockworkers’ union to suspend strike until Jan. 15 to allow time to negotiate new contract despite these recent developments pointing to a soft landing. after ~~ 2 yrs of rate hikes and pauces, Fed cut the discount rate by 1/2 point and hinted that there would be more cut in the horizon dock strike averted, on the heels of a strong September job report/a surprising drop in unemployment/higher wages, as a result, Treasury yields have been surging, post the Sep blow-out job report. looking forward to Fed's next cut, giving these bond traders the finger; Fed's next FOMC meeting will be on Nov 6-7, 2024.
My TX home insurance renewal for November went up almost 50% this year compared to last year. Home prices didn’t move, and core inflation is pretty much back to normal, but we did have one hurricane that directly hit Houston and two very scary hurricanes causing major devastation. This isn’t sustainable.
Lmao Americans are morons. Did they tell you that inflation was DOING THIS TO EVERYONE EVERYWHERE ELSE IN THE WORLD. My god, conservatives in literally almost every single group, ruin things for everyone. Bottom of the barrel trash
Can’t wait to see Conservatives get prices down by expanding the trade war via tariffs. We import several hundreds of billions of food.
Really ignores the causes of inflation in those sectors. Eggs have been devastated by multiple bird flu outbreaks. OJ is similarly under pressure to Citrus Tree disease.
Link is available for anyone to read. https://www.wsj.com/finance/commodi...7?st=4K9QPu&reflink=desktopwebshare_permalink Article claims its drought, avian flu and ukraine war for the rise in breakfast prices. Only thing listed out of those factors has been lean hogs.
Can we get off the egg price bullshit, please? There. Is. A. Bird. Plague. Less birds = less eggs. 130m dead in 3 years.
Insurance (auto, home, health) keeps going up and up and up, much faster than core inflation. Health care costs are soaring. Blame insurers, drug companies — and your employer : NPR The United States has the most expensive health care in the developed world. Now it's about to get even more expensive. Some 154 million people get health insurance through their employer — and many could see their paycheck deductions surge next year, by 6% to 7% on average. Some will likely also see their out-of-pocket costs rise as employers pass along the spiking costs of care. That's because employers will be paying a lot more — almost 9% more per employee on average, for the same level of coverage — to provide health benefits for their workers. Even after cutting or changing their health care benefits, employers are facing the biggest price increase in 15 years, according to a new survey of more than 1,700 organizations by Mercer, a benefits consultancy.
