Both Mccain and Guiliani support sending MORE troops to Iraq right now.

That is WAY outside mainstream. THey are done.

Seriously, has there ever been a case of greater media hype than this guy? If he were not 1) half black or 2) very liberal, the media would ignore him. Totally. Can you imagine a white conservative getting this kind of play from the media? That's laughable. This guy is out of his league. He's a rookie, plain and simple. Just another liberal. And his Muslim ties should be examined.

Excuses, excused, excuses. "He only gets attention because he is black... He only gets attention because he is liberal... wah wah wah." Man up and just admit he is a charismatic leader that people respond to. They always have with Obama.

Why should Muslims ties be examined? Is there anything wrong with having ties to Muslims?

Obama talks trash to Saints fans. Haven't these people been through enough?

:D I find this to actually be a good quality because he doesn't come off as being too political. Kerry's major downfall.

I think if he doesn't say "Hymietown" and gives a graceful, uniting concession speech at the Convention, he could plant the seeds for '12 or '16, a-la JFK in '56.

    Okay, enough.

Rookie? what does he need, 6 more years in the senate to become a political w**** and / or a blowhard a la Kerry / McCain / Clinton / Biden? Because Bush's experience as a not-very-powerful governor of a state prepped him for this job? He's doing sooooooo nicely. Iraq looks great! All those years of "experience" from the whipsmart neocons who got us into this festival of death in Iraq - and the "experience" of the seasoned democrats who shamefully abdicated their responsibity in overseeing the executive branch's misbegotten, suicidal invasion - was worth what, exactly? In this day and age, I will take a younger politican with conviction, communications skills and a vision any day of the week. Experience? More than a couple of years is a borderline DQ at this point, we're so far in the sewer, most people with heavy experience are, in fact, culpable.

As for the charge that him being half-black is his only asset, that is untrue and pretty much straight up racist. For starters, he can c-o-m-m-u-n-i-c-a-t-e. Have you heard him speak lately? He beats the ever living crap out of the most seasoned vets in terms of articulating a point and delivering a message in a thoughtful, intelligent way. By the way, he was right about iraq, is comfortable with values, is right on energy, estate taxes, etc. I like the way he makes decisions as well - he is fact based, not faith based.

The thing about examining his muslim ties is so blatantly offensive it does bear noting. Why do you think his "muslim ties" should be examined? Probable cause? Or does a funny name make you worried he is going to get elected and then ram a plane into the White House kitchen?

Tell you what Trader, I challenge you to put down the stones you are so fond of throwing, and tell us about your pro-active ideas, and give your reactive "liberals liberals liberals" schtick a well-deserved rest. Seriously, i would be so impressed if you went five posts without doing the Rush Limbaughâ„¢ "Liberals Are The One And Only Problem" routine, maybe even taking a month off from the tired, tired, tired characature of "liberals" that was so successful in the late 1990s - early 2000's for the Limbaugh / O'reilly / Rove afficianados. Please tell me - at this early juncture who do you support and why? what shall we do about Iraq? Foreign oil? Anything at all? Top five issues to you? You seem quite passionate, i would love to see some more substantive debate from someone so confident in his positions, whatever they may be.

My worry is, you - and others, by the way, people on my side of the spectrum as well - might have absolutely nothing in the bank other than the desire and ability to agitate people who would like to have reasonable debate. That your sole trick is diverting the political discourse away from substantive issues by chucking insults, making boogey-men out of those with whom you disagree, and making exaggertedly offensive remarks, thereby wasting invaluable time we could use to actually find consensus and solve even one problem. That for you, the goal is not progress, but engaging in venomous arguments in which you indulge a general misanthropy rather than a heartfelt desire to improve the world in which we live.

    Just a thought.

Somehow I doubt that T_J started a thread seven years ago entitled "r****ded Jerkoff A$$h0Le: From TX GOV to Prez?"

Obama, in this case, is essentially running for Vice President.

With 14 letters and three symbols, t_j clearly illustrates that he has the maturity of a four year old.

Hey! Don't insult 4 year olds like that!

    ;)

Man CB! That was a smack down of epic proportions!

    [edit]

Anyway, for those too lazy (or scared) to watch the youtube clip, here's the transcript.

WTF is wrong with you people? Just ignore the gignantic douchebag that is TJ. Stop trying to have intelligent and rationale debate with a immature twit incapable of actually forming and defending a position, prefering to throw out tired generalizations and accusations. Just let it go already. It's all a game to him, and you encourage his d******d behavior by trying to engage him as an adult.

I'm tired of seeing every one of his useless posts quoted 40 times every thread.

    D&D. Ignore the Stupid ****s.

    Sorry Deckard.

Yes because I had a problem with Dinkins, I hate black people. Very good deduction. You must not like Chinese people since you don't agree with me on some stuff.

    Fair point.

The problem is, if you listen to Rush Limbaugh and then come read T_J's posts one day, you'll find that the tone and the arguments are identical. I get that T_J is not influencing a soul in here - and maybe he has some outlet other than this that i dont know about where he does influence people - but those arguments and tone totally have legs, commercially and political-public-health wise. They are super toxic, exploiting fear (Muslim ties, etc) and causing sufficient static (with unanswerable non-relevant questions about how much of Obama's hype is due to his race) to fog the real debate between actual human beings with ideas who give a crap about the human race.

Yes, its garbage, but in some meta-analysis its a drain, and once in a while crap like this needs to be called out and exposed. I dont actually think T-J, the real person whoever he is, is 100% serious, i think he kind of giggles when people get all agg about his posts. But that larger phenomenon deserves the very occasional dissection, because it is a huge batch of weeds sucking valuable fuel from the crops. We could use the fuel elsewhere. His response to a post suggesting that he has nothing to offer other than parroting Rush Limbaugh and overusing of the word "liberal" is enough for me, I'm good for a while myself.

But basically you're right, I am happy to take the "ignore these posts" - not just his, and not just the ones from the right - pledge, its no sweat off my back. I do dream of a forum where inflammatory missives like these sink down the front D&D page like a stone with one or so responses. I'll happily do my part.
