That rumour was debunked by Pana's GM/owner weeks ago. The Greek tabloids are as bad as Sina.

I agree with both of you that the organization doesn't want Scola to leave. I just worry that the Rocket Managment is too nice to let him go if he requested, can a player buy out his own contract then play for another team immeidately?

tom.com said explicitly that it wasn't the "Pana offer". Not saying that tom.com has much reputation on this though.

Since when has Rockets management been too nice?

Ask Barkeley, Swift, Bonzi, Mike James. And now Buddy Baker.

No, a player CANNOT buyout his own contract unilaterally. When you hear about "buyouts" in European contracts, that is specifically negotiated into the contract with a designated buyout amount. That is why you hear about a player having "a reasonable buyout amount" in his deal.

That's (half) right. The Rockets traded him to the Spurs, who WANTED him to void his contract so that San Antonio could wipe his salary off the books and just BARELY avoid the luxury tax this past year.

i don't expect landry to return.

he was screwed over last summer when signing his contract, and this summer they want to give him a portion of the MLE and only for 2 years so they can keep cap flexibility for 2010.

if i were him i'd say thanks but no thanks. i'll sign a 4 year deal elsewhere.

meanwhile, it's a sellers market for PF's this summer. who's left to replace landry if he leaves? kurt thomas, robert horry, kwame brown, walter hermann, juwon howard?

not looking good. if he leaves. say hello to chuck hayes.

Landry was given a stock standard contract for a second round pick. His agent thought he was entitled to more because the Rockets had paid $1 million to buy his draft pick/rights from Seattle.

Were did you read they're were only offering 2 years? I thought Feigen mentioned that if his knee checked out the Rockets were willing to give a long term contract.

Is there any other PFs on the Pacers' radar who could be more of a priority than Landry? Or is there a player they are actively pursuing with their MLE?

If not, this sounds like a game of who-blinks-first between the Rockets and the Pacers. The Pacers may be waiting for the Rockets to use part of the MLE so that they can offer Landry just above what Houston has left. OTH the Rockets are keeping their MLE available to match any offer given to Landry.

Sound like this could go on all summer.

The Landry free agent news has been limited with only news that the Pacers want him. Has anyone heard of any other team trying to lure Landry? If very few teams are interested then its bodes better for the Rockets.

Pacers payroll situation is similiar to the Rockets in that using the full MLE will put them into LT. They've already got 15 players on board. Do they really need another PF? Granger might be playing his minutes there if Rush establishes himself at SG from day one.

    PG: Ford, Jack, Diener, Tinsley
    SG: Rush, Graham
    SF: Dunleavy, Williams
    PF: Granger, Murphy, Baston, McRoberts
    C: Nesterovic, Foster, Hibbert

    Buddy Baker planting another story?

Forgot to add Daniels. That's 16 players.

Lakers have said if the Odom for Artest deal falls through they will be going after Landry.

Think about this. Lakers are above LT. Is Landry and his questionable knees worth $10 million to the Lakers when they are already paying Pau Gasol $15 million to play PF?

Can Landry stay healthy or is he an one season wonder? Marquis Daniels is a prime example as to why the Rockets shouldn't overpay Landry.

I dunno, Clippers signed B-Diddy for $65 million with "TWO" questionable knees.

Clippers desperately needed a PG and are under the salary cap. B-Diddy is a franchise player, Landry isn't even a starter.

What difference does it make if he's a franchise player or a bench player? Fact is Baron Davis has two bad knees. That is a fact. Landry maybe or maybe not. The only thing that matters here is that teams want them and value them.

You don't see anyone making B-Diddy get his knees scoped do ya?

Not that much apparently since he hasn't signed an offer yet.

Again why would the Lakers spend $10million on a backup PF when they're paying Pau $15million? It just doesn't make sense.

There are either some lazy sports writers out there or someone is planting ludicrous stories.
