Just regarding 3), there is no reason Posey could not have been the 6th man if indeed JJ beat him out for the 3 spot. Posey had never showed any indication of complaining about PT or having a supporting role. Further, I don't think JJ would be worried about whether he could get PT over Posey, he has gone to places like went to Sac where a plethora of quality swingmen made potential PT even much more scare for him the the Roockets with Mobley/Posey at those postions.

In short it is much better to be in a position like Sac where you have trouble dividing PT in the 2 spot and 3 spot because you have 3 or more quality guys there. In our case, we still would have like 36-32-30 minute slots for swingmen at the 3 or 2--plenty of PT for Cat, Posey AND JJ.

Personally, I don't think we ever thought much about landing JJ until he fell in our laps because Sac wanted to go a little cheaper route. We did intend to replace Posey with Pike and A Griffin--which was a terrible short term decision made less bad because of the JJ deal, and a terrible long term decision all around considering the limited shelf life of JJ/Pike.

It was all done because Les was a cheapass this summer and far too many Rocket fans and media let him get away with it by confusing Posey's cap space issue (not signign him did not get us under the cap) with the potential lux tax which is solely a Les' profitability.

I'd do Cato for Croshere :). Croshere gets a bit of a bad rap because he was in Isaiah's doghouse for so long. He played fairly well for Bird and has played well in spurts for Carlisle. He's good at what he does and could probably contribute.

Mo T is far too much value for him, though. I'd be happy to trade Cato.

In response to the "we already have 3 point shooters" idea. WHAT THE HELL?!?! Houston is in deep need of a shooter. Houston lacks a single pure shooter on the team, unless you count Pike... who has so many deficiencies apparently, that he can't get in the team.

Mobley's probably as close as we can get. And I wouldn't put him in the "elite" shooter category. Jim Jackson can shoot the 3, but is hardly terrific at it. Francis is slightly below average at the bomb for a guard.

I think a great shooter is perhaps the #1 need for this team right now.

i remember on nba fastbreak they were saying Indiana wanted cato. (but they could be wrong). I would of gave cato up to. Cato contract is ridicolous.
