JV, I actually like Harringtons game. Its just, I dont want to lose Mobes for him, like you said. I wouldnt mind playing him alongside Cat and Steve though. That would give us excellent athletism. I still think if we get a solid 3, we can do w/ Mo at the 4. Harrington could be the solid 3, but not at the price of Mobley.

if not for his contract, Croshere would be a nice fit as our PF, he would camp on the perimeter and dare opposing PF's to double down on Yao.

then they'd still double and dare Croshere to make the three...

he hasn't been hitting them the past few seasons... and i'm not sure more PT is the cure.

Hey Sage, I like Harrington. That guy seems to be a tough power forward who looks like he's about to hit his stride. He just needs the right amount of playing time. And he's young. I think he could hold the 4 spot down for the Rockets. I like Tinsley as well, when he's healthy. In order give up Harrington they may try to get rid of Croshere and his contract with him. So if Mcgrady is out of the picture I wouldn't mind seeing the Rockets try to swing a trade with Indiana that involves Croshere, Harrington, and Tinsley. Those three guys fit the JVG style, mentally tough, and efficient. And they'd be coming from a strong system oriented offense where Rick Carlisle called all their plays.

As always, very well put, TexasStoke.

My biggest fear with McGrady (whom I think is an excellent player FYI) is that, God forbid, he turns into the second coming of Grant Hill. For his sake and for the sake of the league, I hope that never happens. But we've seen it happen before to many a team. The other thread that talks about getting Allan Houston from the Knicks also flirts with this same kind of risk. Ironically, part of the problem that's plagued Orlando is that the very two franchise players in McGrady and Grant represent the same two reasons why the team is in such dire straights to move people. THis is the same problem plaguing the NY KNicks right now too.

I HOPE THIS NEVER HAPPENS TO THE ROX

So looking forward to where we can acquire talent at a reasonable price, I totally agree with you that Harrington looks like a good deal - talent-wise AND economically. One of the most difficult things to gauge is talent relative to playing time. I mean, let's face it, McGrady gets all the minutes in the world to do his thing for a losing team. Yet, can he thrive on a winning team that demands greater efficiency? With Harrington, I do think he'll get a step up in playing time which is a plus for him AND he'll play very efficiently for us after coming from the Carlisle system.

Aside - I'm also working on the assumption that most player movement tends to be cross-conference. In other words, we'd have a better chance moving people from our conference out East and vice versa than doing deals within out conference. That said, I definitely think the Pacers are the team with the best player bargains out there.

most Pacer fans would view Harrington as too much to give for Mobley, not too little.

    so maybe it's pretty close.

There is definitely not enough PT for Artest and Harrington and Bender, considering how thin we are at the 2 and the 5.

But Walsh & Bird are not the type to hand out bargains.

Would lvoe to do a Mobley- Harrington swap.

I'd swap Croshere with MoT too. Croshere's a better rebounder and a better shooter. I doubt he's a worse defender.

    Mobley/MoT for Croshere/Harrington?

Croshere for MoT is pretty good idea

Croshere is closer to being a Van Gundy thugee than MoT. Although MoT did show signs of defensive improvement this past season, he's not the type of guy who will bump and grind and set hard picks. Shooting-wise, Croshere is more the spot up shooter who would probably fit better alongside Yao. MoT needs the ball in his hands and usually needs to create a bit off the dribble to be in top form.

The Pacers are looking for more of that create-off-the-ball scoring and MoT could very well interest them.

pls dont trade for artest... in my opinion i think he tried to do too much all by himself. Look at Det-Ind series, he is shooting more than his big man JO Neal... this is the reason their lost. Isnt it sounds familiar when our guards shoot more than our big man???
    btw imo francis > artest
