Yeah, I wonder the same thing too. In couple of plays, Yao looks like he use both hands equally well. You don't see a lot of ambidextous player in the nba. Yao is one of them.
Every great scoring big man has a bread-and-butter shot or two. Some are more creative (Hakeem), some are not (Kareem). Yao is definitely the former kind. I don't mind him using a variety of moves as long as he has established at least one go-to shot. I remember Rudy said during the World Championship last summer that the first thing he wanted to teach Yao was a hook shot. I think he did develop a pretty effective hook. He just needs to use it more.
Yeah well, the whole point of offense is to score as easily as possible. If Yao draws a frontcourt player and a backcourt player, with his passing skills, I think we've accomplished the goal.
I don't think he's talking about being completely ambidextrous. When I play, I can use both hands, like, for lay-ups and dribbling and stuff.
That's right. He needs to increase his explosiveness. When Yao jumps, it's almost in slow motion. Thus, it allows other faster guys to catchup and block his shot.
