I agree. I say we keep Deke. It isn't like he is horrible. I would rather trade Chuck than Deke. The young ones in the locker room look up to him.

I just wanted to point out that Christie could shoot, contrary to what you wrote. He was a solid 3 pt shooter in SAC. 4 seasons there, between 34.5 and 39.5 %. Pretty solid shooter..

But Pollard certainly couldn't.. just a correction is all

Butler's highest mins avg in a season is 10mins/game. Given Yao's injury history over the past few years Rockets need a vet backup C who can step in and start at any time.

Will Mount Mutombo be retained? Absolutely!

    Will he contribute? Absolutely?

Will he lose some of his PT to Butler? Yes.

He will be back for insurance. We do not know if Yao could be out again for 30 games. In that case he will be needed.

First off, while it very probable that Rafer is going to be traded, I don't think its a forgone conclusion - so I don't even know why that's part of the poll questions. But I think Morey made it clear that they plan on getting Chuck and Deke back. I'd cut Novak before I let Deke go without trying to sign him. I'll also take Deke and Chuck over Harris, Landry, and Reed. I may even put Deke higher on the depth chart than Butler - although I don't think we should be cutting Butler.

Deke left the country last week and was not very happy about the offer the Rockets made him.

How do you know that? Not challenging your knowledge, just curious.

Deke should be retained. You never know what'll happen to Yao during the season, and in that game 7 against the Jazz, I wish JVG would have played Mutombo more. Yao is awesome but I thought the flow was better with Mutombo in there. Just an opinion.

I'm hoping he comes back. Once again, a lot of bang for the buck. We were really strong with him in there last year. Until he proves he can't do that again, we'd be crazy to not have him in there for his defense. There's no one we could pick up who could give us what he can in a backup role.

I want Mutombo back, and I don't want him back...

    I want him back because:
    1) I like him as a person
    2) he is one of the greatest defender in NBA history
    3) he is a good mentor for Yao
    4) he is a positive image and good icon for the Rox
    5) he is not that expensive and only needs about 10 minutes/game

I don't want him back because:
    1) His poor offense doesn't fit with Adelman's style and will become a liability
    2) He is old and has no future from a basketball stand point
    3) He will take away the minutes from a potential backup center that might help us in the future
    4) We are over the LT, if Mutombo sign, we are much more likely lose both Snyder and Head (I want at least one of them to stays)

Deke should be back. Maybe he's not happy about his offer but then, look at the roster. He's in his last year if that. He should be honored to be given the chance to play.

If the management don't want to sign Deke, I'll be pissed. That will be classless and rude to Deke after he did a wonderful job to the team last season.

Maybe they ought to trade Rafer for Jeff Foster....someone that we need to really rebound...he's an upgrade over Hayes when it comes to rebounding. Did you see his offensive rebounding ..my goodness? He avg like 8.0 in only 20 something minutes...wow.
