Towards the end of the American Dad thread people started ranking their favorite TV shows. I haven't read the board for a while, so I really hope nothing like this has been done recently. Anyways, this isn't just another thread dedicated to making a list but also to inform others of what they might be missing out on. So in my opinion the best shows on TV are:

24 - Unbelievable, non-stop action, it's like a movie that never ends and in this case, that is a VERY good thing. Best non-comedy show on TV, it has to be.

The O.C. - I just rented the first few discs of season 1 and I'm 19, so the show is kinda right up my alley. It's great drama and painful comedy (mean that in a good way). I'd say it's okay for guys to like this show, and if anyone catches you watching it, everyone on the show is BEAUTIFUL, so you have that as an excuse. My favorite drama that there has ever been.

Chappelles Show - Pushes the line like no other. Outrageously funny!

Curb Your Enthusiam - Larry David is a comedic genius.

Scrubs - Just sheer brilliance. I haven't seen a show for a good while now, but I'll be getting a replacement Tivo for the one I had that broke, so I'll be catching up real soon.

Nip/Tuck - I've only seen the first season and am dying to see the second. This show is addictive, and I've never seen another show like it.

I love all the aformentioned shows. As much as I want to rank them in some certain order, I can't. They're all just great to me. Although, bringing in all-time shows, Seinfeld is definitely number 1 on my list. Family guy is probably my second favorite comedy. I can barely wait 'till it comes back on.

I've never seen Alias, CSI, or Desperate Housewives but have heard good things and kinda wanna see what they're about. Anyone care to comment?

Im guilty of watching Desperate Housewives. Kind of a dark comedy, plus they have had alot of Terri Hatcher skin scenes.

As far as best shows, I tend to like alot of stuff on the Discovery Channel:

    Mythbusters is a good one

American Chopper has gotten old, but if you are into bikes and cars, its still good.

    American Hotrod is totally awesome.

Anyone watch "The first 48" on A&E? Totally awesome show. Airline is also good.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Seinfeld as your favorite all-time, Codell. But, then again, it is implied around here that it's a favorite of a large percentage of posters.

Extreme Home Makeover is far and away the best show on TV. Real human drama.

Boston Legal is great with Shatner and Spader.

    Desperate Housewives is also great.

And I am beginning to like Point Pleasant...I love that heaven and hell stuff.

    I love Lost!!

It's the only show I either watch or tape everyday.

I also find the dysfunctional women they pick for the wife trading shows distrubingly interesting

Believe it or not, I haven't watched any Seinfeld in several months.

I think I got burnt out.

    - 24
    - Lost
    - Family Guy (soon, my precious...)
    - The O.C. (you know you watch it...)
    - Curb Your Enthusiasm
    - The Sopranos

Plus, don't sleep on 7th Heaven. The unintentional comedy factor is off the charts.

I must admit, I'm a sucker for any of the CSI shows and House. Medical Investigation is OK, but I've only watched one show.

    And (in random order)
    Mythbusters
    the OC
    Desperate Housewives
    Nip/Tuck
    Six Feet
    Carnivale

Am I the only one who's figured out that Chappelle is a complete one-trick pony?

How many jokes about black vs. white people can you have?

    One time=funny
    Five times=mildly amusing
    100 times=go away
